He earned a little trouble.

LIMITLESS
A Couple of Days Later
Leaving Alex was surprisingly hard for me, and I’m not sure how I feel about it.
She seems into me and I’m into her, but there’s no real future for us. On the other hand, the night exploring Barcelona ranks as—quite possibly—the best night of my life. Unfortunately, no amount of texting can put us in the same city at the same time again.
It seems best to just let it go.
Let her go.
Plus, I’m distracted. By the time we arrived in Paris the next day, LTZ went through the first of a series of rough events.
Agonized and unsure about how to relay the information Alex shared with me about Carter and Zoey to Ty, I call a band meeting. In the nearly four years LTZ has been together, none of us have ever requested a formal meeting, so the rest of the guys are on edge. I didn’t want to ruin tonight’s show, so by the time we sit down it’s very late. We’re congregated in our dressing room after the VIP event.
“Guys, I’ve learned something that affects us, especially Ty, and I can’t keep it to myself.” I begin and proceed to provide all the details Alex shared. When I finish relaying the shocking truth, Ty’s face remains eerily passive.
Connor and Zane, however, lose their minds.
“That’s a bald-faced lie, Jace,” Zane rages. “Carter would never do that.”
Connor’s calmer, but still pissed. “Aye. It seems unlikely. I mean, what would be the point?”
I hate being the messenger. “Look, I’m just relaying what I was told. I don’t want to start anything, but Ty, you haven’t been yourself since your thing with Zoey ended. If I was in your position, I’d want to know.”
“Where did you get this information?” Zane angrily jabs a finger in my direction.
I shake my head. “I can’t say.”
“Fuck you, Jace,” Zane yells.
Connor crosses his muscled arms and narrowed his eyes at me. “Brother, you’ve got to tell us.”
I remain tight lipped.
Ty remains silent with his head down and hands clasped together. He looks up directly at me, his long, brown hair nearly covering his face. His eyes brim with tears, which makes me feel like shit on a shoe. I wonder whether I’ve done the right thing.
With a heavy sigh, he sniffs in deeply to compose himself. “Alex.” One word and he stands and walks out.
“Are you fucking serious?” Zane runs out the door to follow his best friend.
Connor turns to me. “Is it true?”
“Yes.” I lean back in my chair and sigh. “Alex was in Barcelona, Zoey swore her to secrecy, but Alex felt like we needed—Ty needed—to know.”
Connor scrubs his beard with his fingers. “Carter must’ve had his reasons. He loves Ty like a son.”
“Yeah, but the fallout has been a shit-show, Connor.” I run my hands through my hair. “I couldn’t keep it a secret.”
He tilts his head. “So, do you have something going on with Alex?”
“Not exactly. But for transparency’s sake, we’ve hooked up a couple of times. Once in Seattle. Then Barcelona—” I smile. “Neither of us want a relationship. She’s so young, she needs to go out and spread her wings.”
“Aye, so that’s who you were with when you kept us waiting in Barcelona.” Connor smirks. “It was so unlike you to be the fuck-up.”
