Widow’s Walk

A look of mild shock passed over Sully’s face, replaced quickly by a booming laugh as he made quick work of shedding his own clothes. Amy watched, taking a sharp intake of breath at the size of him. A match for the rest of his bulk.

As Sully joined her on the bed, the world turned to touch and breath. The edges of objects were forgotten. His hands framed her face, then her back, drawing her close until the space between them disappeared. He kissed her as though memorizing her, reverent and unhurried. She answered with urgency, both of them losing track of who reached first, who yielded next.

Sully moved down her body with the same admiration until he finally reached her core. “I want to taste you,” he murmured.

His lips found hers, and she lifted off the bed in pleasure, still sensitive from his fingers before. He mumbled something she couldn’t understand before diving his tongue into her depths. Before long she was climaxing again, with waves of pleasure rolling over her.

Catching her breath, she pulled him to her. “I want you inside me.”

“A little greedy,” he murmured, kissing her breasts, her neck and finally finding her lips. “Nothing I want more.”

He rolled them over so Amy was on top of him. She smiled. “Take your time with me,” he smiled.

Amy moved over him, stroking him, as he moaned lightly. “Putting me in charge?” She joked as she straddled him, pressing her heat to his hardness.

Slowly, she lowered herself down onto him. She felt herself stretch to accommodate his size. Sully gripped the pillows, restraining himself from moving as he watched her take him into her. Gradually she moved her hips, a slow rhythm that sent sensations running through every nerve. Two orgasms and she still wanted more of him.

Sully reached up to grab onto her hips as she increased the pace, meeting her thrusts with his own. The sensations grew in her, nerve endings exploding as she moved over the edge. Without breaking their contact, Sully flipped her onto her back as she came thrusting into her as he called her name.

The storm that had built for so long between them broke in warmth and tenderness and wordless trust. Outside, the pines swayed, and the sea sighed against the cliffs as they moved together in a rhythm older than thought.

When morning came, pale light slipped through the curtains, gilding everything in a soft haze. The air smelled faintly of the ocean and sleep. Sully stirred. His arm was still draped around her.

She opened her eyes to find him watching her, quiet amazement etched across his face.

“Hey,” she said.

“Hey,” he echoed, his voice low. A smile tugged at one corner of his mouth. “Good morning.”

“Good morning,” she smiled back. Her hands roamed his body as she slipped herself on top of him.

She leaned down and brushed a kiss across his temple.

“You’re trouble, Amy York.”

She smiled and closed her eyes again. “Good trouble, I hope.”

“The best kind,” he said.

For a long while, they stayed like that, listening to the island outside wake up to the morning.

But as Amy finally rose to make coffee, she paused at the window. Mist clung to the trees outside, rolling in from the water. For a moment she thought she saw movement near the path—something pale and shifting, half there and gone again.

She blinked, and the image dissolved into fog. Probably nothing. Just the morning light.

Still, she shivered once before turning back toward the warmth of the kitchen, where Sully waited, barefoot, smiling like the night had changed everything.

Chapter 24

The mansion smelled faintly of sawdust and sea air, both somehow sweeter that morning. Sunlight spilled through the half finished windows, catching on drifting motes of dust that turned golden as they passed through the beams. Amy swore the light was brighter, as if the day itself had woken in a better mood.

She followed Sully through the grand foyer, his clipboard in hand and a half-hidden smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. Every few minutes, he glanced back. The look did nothing to hide what they’d left unspoken between them since dawn.

“Stop grinning like that,” she whispered.

“Like what?” he said innocently, pushing open a door for her.

“Like you’ve got everything you ever wanted.”
