I walk toward the door.

Ezra blocks me. “No.”

“I just want to look.”

“No. Sage. It’s not safe.”

“Move.” I growl but he doesn’t back down. Instead, he just stares at me as I stare at him. “You’re really fucking annoying.”

“I’ve been called worse.”

“I can imagine.”

The ribbon outside moves, sending a chill racing up my spine. There’s no wind. So why the fuck is it sliding off the railing? It slips onto the porch, then slowly drags itself toward the field.

I blink. “What the fuck?”

Rhett appears beside me. “Well.”

“Stop saying well when supernatural shit happens.”

“I don’t know what else you’d prefer.”

“How about run?”

He grins. “I like that word.”

Of course he does.

The ribbon disappears into the grass and suddenly something inside me pulls. Not pain this time but… recognition.

My hand presses against my stomach.

Malakai notices. “What?”

“I don’t know.”

“Describe it.”

“Like…” I search for the words. “Like I’m supposed to follow.”
