The dead Bride smiles. “The Bride receives.”

A laugh comes from behind us. Not hers.

“Oh, I missed her.”

I spin as he steps through the corn wearing his mask with Ezra directly behind him. The second Ezra sees me, he stops. His eyes move over me and I watch his face change as he takes me in.

Oh, he knows.

Rhett follows his gaze except when his eyes land on mine, they ignite and ripple beneath his mask. He tilts his head and I know. I know deep within my soul that this man is grinning.

So I narrow my eyes and give him a warning look. “Not now.”

He lifts both hands. “I didn’t say anything.”

“Neither did he and I knew.”
