I look at Rhett and his eyebrows lift then his gaze moves to me—understanding. And because he’s Rhett fucking Winslow… the bastard smiles. “Oh.”
I point at him. “No.”
“I didn’t say anything.”
“You didn’t have to.”
Ezra turns away. “This isn’t happening.”
Rhett’s smile grows. “No one said it was.”
“It isn’t.”
“Understood.”
“I mean it.”
“Of course.”
Ezra turns back. “Stop fucking smiling.”
“I can’t help my face.”
Malakai says quietly, “Three must give.”
Ezra’s expression turns murderous. “Don’t.”
“We need to understand what it means.”
“I know exactly what you think it means.”
Sage McBride, apparently incapable of self-preservation, chooses this exact moment to look at all three men. Really look.
Malakai. Dirt streaked across his chest. My fingernail marks still visible against his skin.
Rhett. Mask pushed onto his head. Blood dried along his side. That terrible cocky grin.
Then Ezra. Hands covered in soil from digging me out. Shirt sleeves shoved to his elbows. Jaw tight. Refusing to look at me.
Heat curls low in my stomach again.
You’ve got to be fucking kidding me.
I close my eyes. “Can we please have one supernatural revelation that doesn’t make me horny?”
Rhett chokes.
Malakai actually laughs.
Ezra makes a sound like a man being sentenced to death.
I open my eyes. “I’m serious.”
“That,” Rhett says, “might be my favorite thing you’ve said tonight.”
“Fuck you.”
His smile turns wicked. “Apparently, we should discuss the order.”
