I shake my head.

“Have you seen that fucking place?”

A few of them grin.

“Mitchell didn't renovate a locker room and slap his name on the building. He poured tens of millions of dollars into creating a world-class rugby facility for a sport that still has to fight for attention in this country.”

“It's pretty awesome,” Dani says.

“It's fucking incredible,” I agree. “Which is exactly my point.”

I lean forward.

“Mitchell Knight is forty-three years old. He inherited millions and turned them into billions. He built companies, bought companies, invested in technology and media, and made himself richer doing it.”

I pause.

“But that's not all he does with his money. Knight Global has invested millions in medical research, including funding efforts to find cures for diseases. His foundations have backed programs fighting famine, improving access to clean water, and addressing resource shortages in developing countries. The man is philanthropic almost to a fault.”

I glance around the table.

“So that's part of the puzzle too. Mitchell doesn't just see financial value other people miss. Sometimes he sees value that has absolutely nothing to do with making money. And when he decides something matters, he doesn't throw a few bucks at it for a tax deduction and a nice press release. He goes all in.”

Carolina watches me carefully.

“And?”

“And then he bought a professional rugby team and moved them to the states.”

Silence.

“Let’s be real for a second. The Rovers lost him money.”

I let that settle.

“Not theoretical money. Not some rounding error buried in a Knight Global balance sheet. Millions. The team was bleeding money, and Mitchell knew it. He didn't inherit the problem. He chose it.”

I lean forward.

“And then, instead of cutting his losses, he doubled down.”

I hold up a finger.

“More staff. Better players. Better contracts. Marketing. Analytics. Medical programs. Community outreach.”

Another finger.

“Then he doubled down again.”

I gesture vaguely in the direction of the brand-new training facility.

“Tens of millions more.”

I shake my head.

“So, that's what I'm trying to understand. Mitchell makes investments designed to make money, and he makes investments because he believes they'll make the world better.”

I look directly at Carolina.
