And now, I could smell his arousal again, and I crossed my legs again, but now, crossing my legs was making it worse.

“You want to get out of here?” he said.

“We can’t just keep falling into bed with each other.”

“We won’t go to a bed,” he said with a wicked little smile, his green eyes flashing.

“You know what I mean,” I said.

“So, no?”

Say it, I urged myself. Tell him no. “Let’s go,” I said instead.

He squared his shoulders, giving me a smoldering look.

I shut my eyes and let out breath after breath, trying to dim the rush of my desire for him.

He waved down the waiter, flipping out his credit card. “I’ve got all of this,” he said.

The waiter nodded at us. He was some kid who I didn’t recognize, but that didn’t mean the waiter didn’t recognize Damian. Everyone would know about this by tomorrow morning.

Damian turned to me. “You forgave me, then. Because you blamed her.”

“No,” I said. “I did not forgive you.”

“No?” He didn’t believe me.

“I couldn’t let you go, but I was hurt. I was betrayed. Some part of me hated you. That part still hates you.”

He nodded, casting his gaze away. “Of course. It’s complicated, like the way I felt about her. You… Leona… whatever I feel about you, it’s so pure. I feel like all I do is splash you with my stain, like everywhere it touches you, you’ve been defiled.”

I bit down on my lip. Why did that turn me on? “You want to defile me again, Damian?”

He swallowed. “Omega.”

It was an order, and it went all the way through me, making me sit up straight. My pussy tingled.

“Get up,” he said. “Walk out front. Stand there and look out at the square. Wait for me.”

A moan leaked out of my lips. “Yes, alpha,” I whispered.

And then I obeyed him, because it was what I did. He ordered me around and I did his bidding, and it made us both hot, and we both liked it, even if sometimes, I felt humiliated by it. The humiliation made me hot, too, though.

I stood there, my pussy tingling, my clit pulsing, and I thought to myself that I hated him, that I really and truly hated him, and that I was never going to stop hating him, and that—also—I wanted his knot more than anything on earth.

CHAPTER NINETEEN

HE JOINED ME outside the restaurant. He didn’t touch me, but he stood next to me. His voice was his soothing, deep alpha voice. “Give me your phone.”

I gave it to him.

He typed something and handed it back. “I’ll meet you there in fifteen minutes.”

I looked down. He’d put coordinates into my Maps app. “Where are we going?”

“Somewhere private,” he said, and he walked off, into the square, without giving me a backward look.

After he was gone, and his scent was gone, I tried to convince myself that I wasn’t going to go, but I was too worked up for that.
