“Tired?” she asked with a laugh.

“Sleep,” I said. “Then we’re doing that again.”

Jade got up to use the bathroom before returning to my arms. I pulled her to me, eager to stay as close to her as I could.

I didn’t even regret it the next morning when we had to hide under the covers as the girls demanded breakfast.

“I’ll have you know, never in my thirty years as a sheriff have I seen this.” Mike stood in front of me, arms crossed tightly over his chest.

“You’re the one who caught me buggy racing the first time.”

“But a whole tournament for it?” He scoffed. “Where did you even get the carts?”

“A woman has her ways,” I said as I flipped my hair over my shoulder.

I’d stolen them.

But I definitely wouldn’t say that out loud.

There was a meeting today between Toby and Kevin. The plan was to delay it, and then be so loud that they couldn’t focus.

And I’d wanted to do this for a long time.

Apparently, sexually satisfied me was way too smart for my own good.

All of the square was blocked off. Every guy in town brought in their truck to help make sure there was no traffic. Buggies from Food ‘n’ Stuff were in the middle of the road, as well as the five of us brave enough to do this.

“Are we stupid?” Mollie asked as she turned to us.

Wren was putting on a helmet. “What? This seems fun.”

“You might die,” Grace said. She handed me one too. “But it’s a worthy sacrifice.”

“I’m gonna beat your ass!” Tammy shouted.

“You’d have to catch it first!” Hugh countered.

“But what does it say about us to have Hugh in our company?” Mollie asked.

“He’s wearing clothes,” I said. “No asses today.”
