“Maybe he really wanted what was in that container,” he suggested, watching her lick the fruit juice off her lips.

Instead of reaching for his phone, he plucked a strawberry off the plate and strolled over to the bed. He held the juicy fruit up to Summer’s lips and she took a bite, her gaze locked on his, tongue flicking against his finger. Dear God, the woman was going to make him come undone. He finished the fruit, tossing the stem on the plate and chewing slowly as he thought about all the wicked things he wanted to do to her.

Swiping her tongue across her lips, she gave him a naughty smile as she slid off the bed and brushed against his front. Nostrils flaring, he snaked an arm out, catching her around the waist and hauling her back against him.

“Are you trying to seduce me, my little siren?”

“Is it working?” She wiggled her curvy ass against his hardening cock.

“Yesss,” he breathed into her fragrant hair. “I want you more than air.” Her coconut and tropical flower scent was enough to drive him to his knees. Sliding his hand up, he cupped her breast, squeezing.

She sighed, leaning back against him. “Before we get carried away, why don’t you call Brandon first. Then we can pick this up…” He squeezed again, and her taut nipple tightened against his thumb’s caress. “Right where we left off.”

“I love when you get all breathy.” He turned her around in his arms and gave her a long, languorous kiss. One full of heated promises. When he finally released her, she took an unsteady step back.

“I’m going to grab some ice.” She sent him a playful smile, fanning herself with her hand.

“You need to cool off, sweetheart?” he teased.

“Yes, and not because I’m having a hot flash. More like a silver fox sweat.” She tossed him a saucy wink and went to get the ice bucket. “Be right back.”

Lex stifled a groan, forcing himself to look away from the way she shook her ass as she sashayed toward the door. Grabbing his phone, palming his overeager dick, he realized he needed some ice, too. Because his Summer was blazing hot, and she was giving him quite the sunburn.

Brand answered on the first ring. “Battle.”

“Got some new intel. The Broker is involved.”

“Oh, shit.”

“Exactly.”

“I’m patching Mitch in, hang on.”

A few moments later, General Mitchell Evans’s confident voice came over the line. “You’re sure The Broker is involved, Battle?”

“Summer’s ex-husband, a big-time loser named Scott Holt, told us Dougherty hired him to transport a container to The Broker. He said he thinks it might be a military weapon.”

“That tracks considering he’s an arms dealer,” Brand said. “Any leads on his identity, Chief?”

“No, but if he was supposed to receive a shipment, it’s possible he’s in Vegas to get it.”

“Can we find out?” Lex asked, immediately thinking of the men in suits who showed up at Summer’s house and then in Naked City. And possibly even the shooter on the boulevard.

“If The Broker’s in Vegas, it might be to eliminate loose ends,” Brand warned. “You and Summer need to be careful.”

“We will.”

“Brandon, get the team prepared to go to Vegas,” Mitch ordered. “I’ll have a jet on standby.”

“Roger that,” Brand answered.

“In the meantime, hunker down. I’ll be in touch.” Mitch disconnected, leaving Brandon and Lex on the line.

“Do you think The Broker sent men to Summer’s house?” Brand asked.

Lex sucked the inside of his cheek, thoughtful as he responded. “There were two sets of men. The first two were tatted-up thugs. The second two wore suits and seemed much more…refined. If The Broker sent men, I think he sent the suits.”

“Then who sent the thugs?”
