“So, now can you shovel the shit that I was meant to do? Please. The baby doesn’t like poop.”
He nods, giving me a suspicious look. “You’re going to abuse this, aren’t you?”
I can’t hide my smile. “Yep. And then imagine how demanding I’ll be after I birth a whole child. It’s going to be hell for you, Mr. Sterling.”
He shakes his head. “Nope. It’s going to be absolutely fucking perfect.”
EPILOGUE TWO
Colten
Jett’s phone rings again. Violet's name flashing on the screen. We had a family meeting to discuss the plans going forward with Twisted Serpents now that Zach has taken over from Levi. They’ve been quiet since his death, but we know better than to trust silence. So, we need to act now before they do.
Gianna has cut all ties with them; any deals her father made in LA died with Levi. We have to protect our next few shipments, because that’s where they’ll attack.
“You can’t ignore her, Jett. You’re better than that,” I tell him.
I have no doubt Violet already knows Lacey was at the family party last month.
Which explains Jett’s foul mood ever since. I don’t give a shit what he says; I know he’s in love with Violet. I know what love is now, so I can comment.
“She told me to fuck off, Colten,” Jett hisses.
Finally, I got a reaction from him. “And today, she looked me dead in the face and told me to get out because she had someone coming over.”
He kinda asked for that.
“Okay. Bringing Lacey to the party was dumb as fuck, Jett. Even for you.”
He takes in a deep breath. “If Violet tells me to date people, that we’re just friends, then why can’t I?”
I chuckle. “Jett, just because she said that in the middle of an argument doesn’t mean it’s an instruction to do it.”
He huffs, snatching his beer and drinking it in one. “Well, it’s a good thing me and Violet are only friends.”
He spits out the word friend like it’s poison.
“And friends don’t ignore their calls,” I say, handing him his phone.
He chews his lip.
“Why does a woman who is five foot two scare me so damn much?”
I glance over to my wife. She’s laughing over mocktails with Lola, Tate, and Dom, like she belongs here.
And she does.
“She ain’t answering,” Jett interrupts me, admiring my wife.
“Then try again.”
Gianna blows me a kiss. Fuck. I love her.
She frowns, glancing past me at something, and as I turn, my heart goes into overdrive.
“Help me! Help me!” Violet screams, sprinting towards us.
Jett is already moving, and I’m right behind him. Her face streaked with tears; she’s sobbing so hard she can barely breathe.
Jett wraps his arm around her, and with all her strength, she pushes him off, almost knocking him to the floor. “Not you!” she screams at him. “Stay the fuck away from me, Jett.”
I shove my body between her and him, creating some distance. “Violet. What happened?” I ask calmly.
“Noah. Noah. He’s gone. I can’t find him.” She slaps her hands over her eyes and falls in a heap on the ground.
“Violet!” Lola and Gianna run over, and we lift her to her feet like a rag doll. I’ve never seen someone so fucking broken.
Gianna grabs hold of her shoulders, holding her upright, and grabs her face. “Violet. Now isn’t the time to fall apart. Tell us exactly what happened. How long has he been missing?”
