I catch sight of my darling husband the second his huge frame enters the room.
“That’s a nice wedding band you got on, darlin’. Isn’t the husband going to mind me taking a ride on you tonight?” the cowboy from earlier asks.
He wasn’t joking, he is waiting for me, but I don’t think he’s going to enjoy the ride as much as I am.
His name is Dave. Dave the dickhead. And I’m pretty sure if I looked away from my glass long enough, he’d roofie me.
Batting my lashes, I give him a sultry smile. “You can ask him yourself if you’d like,” I say, nodding towards the door.
Colten is pissed. Tense jaw. Dark eyes zoned in on me. Fists clenched by his side. His face red as if he’s gone past stressed. Wonderful. Payback is a bitch. Hiding my grin behind the rim of my glass, I drink the rest of the martini just as Colten stops between me and Dickhead Dave.
“Dave, meet Colten Sterling,” I introduce, holding my hand out to Colten.
Dickhead Dave appears as if he’s seen a ghost.
“Dave, didn’t you want to ask my husband if it was okay to take a ride on me later?” I purr, running my fingers along Colten's chest.
“I-I—” Dave’s blue eyes flash with rage.
“You what? Forgot how to form sentences?” I finish for him.
Colt crosses his arms over his chest, and my eyes can’t help but scan him. That tight black T-shirt shows off how muscular he is. The black cowboy hat, that’d look great on me.
“You want to fuck my wife?” Colten grits out.
Colt’s dark eyes hit mine and my breath stammers, for a split second, before his attention is back on the cowering Dave.
“I’m good. I don’t want no trouble, Colten. I had no idea she was yours.”
I bark out a laugh. “Here we go again, David. Big problem for me. Why do you keep talking about me like I’m a man's property? Do you know who I am? Would you like to find out?” I hiss, leaning closer to him.
“Half a million, she’s yours for the night,” Colten cuts in with a smug grin on his face.
Dave’s face drops with pure confusion. And to be honest, mine probably mirrors his.
“Excuse me?” I snap, directly at my husband.
“I’m negotiatin’, sweetheart.”
“Ain’t no pussy worth that much, Colt. Your wife or not.”
Colten nods, as if he’s contemplating his words, and shoves his hand in his pocket.
“Alright,” Colt adds, tapping his other hand on the bar between me and Dave.
“How about you come and talk to me out the back? We can discuss a new price. Something more reasonable. You’ve got some horses I’ve got my eye on; we should be able to cut a deal.”
My heart slams against my ribs as Dave slides off his seat, licking his lips as he gazes up my legs.
Colten nods to the back exit.
“So I’m worth a prize horse now?” I ask.
He leans in, brushing his lips along my ear. “You’re my damn wife, Gianna. Now do you want to watch what happens when someone tries to take you from me? Ain’t that why you summoned me here?”
My eyes go wide. Now we’re talking.
“Let’s go,” he grunts, cracking his neck.
