“No way. My brother’s a pediatrician. He just got a residency there.”

She gave me a look. “One of the bet brothers?”

“No, the good one. Jeremy would never.”

“Ha,” she said, picking up my empty syrup ramekin. “I really hope I end up there. Put in a good word for me with your brother?”

“Consider it done.”

She smiled.

“Hey, is there any way I can have the Wi-Fi password?” I asked. “I have some emails I need to check.”

She twisted her lips. “Hmmm. We don’t usually give it out. But yeah, I’ll write it down. Work stuff?”

“Yeah.”

“What do you do?” she asked, balancing my dishes with an elbow on her hip.

“I’m a musician.”

She looked surprised. “Oh, cool. What kind?”

“I play the saxophone.”

“The sax, huh?” She gave me a wry smile. “You didn’t bring it with you today?”

“To my Zombie Santa campout at Pancake Disco? No.”

“Missed opportunity. We could have both been making tips.”

I chuckled.

“Do you have a channel or anything?” she asked. “So I can see you play?”

My smile fell a little. “Uh, I do. You don’t want to see it, though. It’s kind of hokey.”

“Okay, now I definitely want to see it.”

She waited.

I mumbled the name.

“What?” she asked.

“It’s Sexy Sax Boy,” I said again, louder.

She blinked at me. “Like, the guy who plays ‘Careless Whisper’ with the sunglasses and the wig?”

“That’s Sexy Sax Man. He retired a few years ago. But yeah, that’s what I do.”

She looked very amused. “How’d you get into that?”

“I dressed up like him for Halloween a few years ago. People liked it and I started getting offers for gigs.”

“Okay.” She nodded. “That’s impressive.”

“Now you’re just making fun of me,” I said.
