She was running out of patience, and they were running out of time. "Is it possible that Neil or your husband would be selling veterans' private health information?" Tyler asked.

Her jaw dropped in what appeared to be genuine surprise. "Frank doesn't need to sell information. And who would he sell it to?"

"Maybe another country," he suggested.

Her gaze widened. "Are you asking me if Frank and Neil could be spies? Wow. I didn't think you were going to say that. I mean, they'd probably be fine to cook the books, or use a charitable donation for their own benefit, but spying… Frank was a soldier. He was a patriot. He put up the flag every Fourth of July."

"What about Neil?"

"Well, he wasn't a soldier, and I never heard him talk about politics. He does have a lot of connections in Dubai and the Middle East, where his former wife is from." Tiffany paused. "Jasmine did tell me once that Neil was very secretive. I thought she was referring to him having a woman on the side. But maybe he is a spy. Maybe Frank is, too. That would be something."

He could see her spinning a movie in her head, probably where she was playing the lead in a film featuring her ex-husband and his good friend. "Do you have Jasmine's number?" he asked, trying to get her back down to earth.

"Sure." She took out her phone and rattled off a number, which he made a note of. "Jasmine moved back to Dubai after the divorce. I doubt she's talked to Neil in a while."

"What about Vivienne's number?"

"I have that one, too." She looked through her contacts list again before giving them a number.

"Thanks for being so helpful. One more thing: how can we get to Frank?" Tyler asked. "How can we talk to him in a place where he's not surrounded by security?"

"You can't. He's a rich man. He always has a bodyguard with him. And you're men," she added. "If anyone has the ability to get Frank alone, it's going to be someone who looks like me, but maybe five years younger," she said candidly.

"Where would they be able to run into him?"

"He likes to drink at his club, the Conover Club, on the top floor of the Ramsey Building on Fifth."

"Thanks," Tyler said.

"No problem. Good luck. But like I said, nothing bad ever sticks to Frank. Maybe that's because he's good, or he's just really slippery."

"Well, she was chatty," Zane said dryly as they left the studio. "That was easier than I thought. I'll follow up on Levitan's ex-wife and current girlfriend. Maybe we should send Alina to the Conover Club for a drink tonight."

Alina was a very attractive blonde, not as young as Tiffany, but she might be able to make herself look younger. "Good idea. See if she's free."

"Did anything else jump out at you?" Zane asked.

"Only that Neil wanted more cash for his program and Frank thought he had enough. Maybe he went looking elsewhere."

"Well, hopefully, Rachel can get that bug planted, so we can do some spying of our own."

"We should go to East River now," he said. "With the traffic, we'll probably get there just in time to follow her to the clinic."

"I know you don't want her to do it," Zane said. "There's something between you two, something besides history, isn't there?"

He shrugged. "My head is in the game, Zane."

"That's not what I asked."

"Well, that's my answer."

Rachel was nervous. She tried not to show it when she walked to her car with Tyler moving slowly behind her in a gray SUV that wasn't his usual vehicle. He must have picked it up at his office. She knew Tyler didn't want her to take this meeting, but she had to do it.

She got into her car and then pulled out of the parking lot, happy to have Tyler and Zane right on her tail. She had on her earrings, and they'd told her they would turn them on as soon as she got into her vehicle, so they would see and hear everything that she saw and heard.

She still had the small disk in her left pants pocket. She had a feeling Dr. Levitan would shake her hand when she arrived, and she didn't want him to see anything in either of her hands. She'd also traded her tote bag for a small clutch purse, so he wouldn't worry that she was bringing something like a weapon into the building. She didn’t want to look dangerous in any way. As her nerves tightened, she reminded herself that she'd had thousands of consults with doctors and numerous interviews along the way of her medical career. This was something she could do.

But her palms were sweating, which was another good reason to keep the device in her pocket, so she didn't mess anything up with nervous sweat. As she pulled into the parking lot, her heart began to race even faster, and she was happy to see Tyler and Zane park several spaces away from her. She tried not to look in their direction as she moved into the building and headed up the elevator to the fourth floor.
