I paused. “Mostly pink. I have a yellow pair and a purple pair with daisies.”

“Ah. I’d like to see them all.” His palm shifted down, teasing between my thighs where he found me slick with arousal. I had to bite my lip to keep from moaning.

“Well, well, well,” he teased. He paused, and I sensed the tonal shift in him more than in his voice. “Obviously, I want you. That’s a given. But we don’t have to wake up this way. Are you a morning person?”

“Yes. I’m up early every day. It’s either a curse or a blessing. I get a lot done in the morning.”

“Ah. Sweet, efficient Chloe,” he teased. “So tell me what you want.”

I felt suddenly overwhelmed. My God, I’d already had the best sex of my life last night. Right up there with the first encounter in the kitchen. There was really no way to measure anything else in my sexual experience that came close to how it felt with Lincoln. I felt greedy and needy. When he teased his fingers a little deeper, my channel clenched and I didn’t even try to hold back, a whimper escaping as I wiggled my hips.

“Please…” I whispered.

“Please what?”

“I need you inside me.”

“Well, that’s easy enough,” he said softly.

I felt a little undone, this was so intimate and sensual with a sharp sweetness to it. As he adjusted my leg, lifting it carefully, I bit my lip, letting out a deep moan as he filled me from behind with his thick, hard length. It felt like we were in our own world. No one else even existed in the universe outside of us in this moment in the darkness. The moon had shifted in the sky, but it was still angling through the windows, and I could see Lincoln’s hand where it flexed on the pillow as he filled me with deep, deliberate nudges, slow and intense.

My orgasm felt as if it started in my bones and rippled outward, so deep I was crying out and shuddering, clamping tightly around him. I savored the way he shivered taut before I felt the heat of his release fill me. We lay there together, gasping in the darkness. He smoothed my hair away from my cheek and pressed kisses right behind my ear.

“Best night ever,” he rasped.

Next thing I knew, he bundled me into his arms and carried me into the shower. Even that felt like an extension of this entire sensual interlude. He kissed me and teased me and soaped me, and I felt taken care of in a way I’d never experienced.

When all was said and done, we got dressed, and he held my gaze. “You think about that, okay?” With one more fierce kiss, he left me alone in my suite wearing a fresh pair of fuzzy pink socks.

Chapter Twenty-Five

Chloe

Efficient Chloe

Later that afternoon, I was in my office when I heard Lincoln’s footsteps. I got hot all over and was smiling by the time he stopped in my office doorway. He hooked one hand on top of the frame, his shirt rising just a little, revealing a strip of his slightly tanned skin. I knew it was warm and wanted to touch him. “Hi,” I squeaked, wiggling my toes where I stood behind my desk.

He held my gaze through several echoing beats of my heart before his lips curled into a slow smile. “Hey. How’s your day going?”

“Good!” I squeaked again. “How’s yours?”

He nodded slowly. “Good. You forgot to enter my schedule though, so I’m a little lost.”

“I did?” Another squeak.

“Miss Efficient Chloe forgot my schedule.” He clucked, shaking his head slowly, and my belly felt all tingly, my knees almost giving out.

“I figured it out. I have a backcountry ski trip on the schedule, and you know, that’s on the list of things you said you haven’t done.”

“I know. I’m a little nervous about that.”

“Oh, you don’t need to be nervous,” he assured me. “I promise.”

“I know, but you’re not saying it’s easy like snowshoeing,” I pointed out, finally finding a little footing in this conversation.

“I’m not saying it’s easy like snowshoeing,” he agreed, just as Asher appeared at his side.

“What are we talking about?” Asher said.
