Believe In Us

“How about you just walk a little lap in the yard?” I managed.

His lips curled in a smile. “Come here.” He reached for me, sliding an arm around my waist. “I’m fine, okay?”

Even though he’d just been out in the dark nearly hypothermic, the chemistry that just would not quit between us felt as if it shimmered in bright sparks around us.

“Okay, we’ll figure it out. You’re not walking actual hikes in the darkness,” I said, trying to grab onto some lightness in the moment.

“Something like that.” He dipped his head to kiss me, but I stepped back.

“I need to check you over first,” I pressed.

“Oh, my God,” he chuckled. “I’m fine.”

“Are you though? You rolled down a hill in the darkness and you already said you have bruises.” They were already evident, one blooming alongside his ribcage, another on his hip, and another along his thigh.

“Oh, Lincoln!” I ran my hand gently over each spot, pressing kisses.

“I promise I’ll be okay.”

“Are you sure nothing’s broken? What about your ribs?”

“Nothing’s broken. I’ve broken a rib before. I would know if I broke a rib. It hurts like fucking hell,” he said, nodding solemnly as he held my gaze.

I let out a sigh. “All right.” I held up my hand, lifting my pinky. “Pinky swear.”

“Oh, we’re pinky swearing?” he teased, his lips curling slowly.

“Yes.” He curled his pinky with mine, his grip surprisingly strong. “You can go for any walks you want if you wake up with a nightmare, but we promise each other you won’t go that far. Only in cell range,” I added.

He squeezed again and dropped his hand away. “I need to kiss you,” he said, his gaze sobering.

As I looked up into the intent blue of his eyes, my heart flipped in my chest and my knees went a little weak. I took a shaky breath just before he dipped his head.

Seconds later, his mouth was on mine. His tongue slid across the seam of my lips and glided against mine. One of his hands smoothed down my back, along with the water raining over us, cupping my bottom. The feel of his arousal pressed against my belly. The relief that he was warm, strong, and here with me was profound and spun into the desire inside. His muscled chest pressed against my softness.

When he nudged me out from underneath the water, breaking our kiss long enough to murmur, “I’m plenty warm,” he lifted me against the tiled wall.

His hand curled under my knee to adjust the angle as he fit his thick crown at my entrance. Cocooned in the steam of the shower, he filled me in a slow, deep slide. The feel of it was delicious, the pleasure beyond description.

“Look at me, sweetheart,” he murmured, smoothing my tangled wet hair away from my cheeks. I had to blink the water from my lashes as I dragged my eyes open to hold his gaze.

“I’ll always come back to you. But thank you for coming to find me,” he whispered.

That snapped through the haze of the moment enough for me to narrow my eyes. “I’m always going to find you.”

“I know.” He nudged his hips a little deeper. With me pressed against the wall and him using his hips to help hold me in place along with his hands, the friction was intense. My release was already threatening, pleasure drawing tight from my core as I clenched around his length.

“I love you. I love you,” I murmured, each word a shape against his lips as he kept nudging into me, every subtle thrust creating more friction and bursts of pleasure.

He held my gaze, whispering my name just before he said, “Come for me, sweetheart. Right now.”

When he said now, he rocked forward deeply with just enough force that it toppled me over the edge, sending me tumbling into a wave of pleasure that drew tight and spun loose with a piercing sensation. I shuddered and cried out his name, a raspy muffled shout in the shower.
