Nicole’s curled into Jeremy’s chest when I find them.

“Where is he?” I shout over the music. “What was more important than coming here?”

More important than fighting for me . . .

“You’ve got it bad.” He shakes his head.

“Tell me!”

Nicole pokes him in the chest. “Tell her, idiot.”

He huffs and stops dancing. “He went to the drive-in. They’re playing some old movie he seemed desperate to see.”

“The Comet?” Hope blooms in my chest.

Jeremy rolls his eyes. “Only one I know of.”

“Thank you!” A jolt of adrenaline spikes through me. For the first time in days, I know what I need to do. Time to fight for Jordan. “I have to go.”

“Kennedy, wait!”

Nicole’s voice fades into the background as I rush toward the exit.

“Did you forget something?” Elijah finally catches up to me at the double doors, his face pinched in confusion.

“I forgot who the hell I was for a minute.” I glance over my shoulder and see Grant hurrying to catch us. “I’m so sorry.”

“Why are you sorry?” Grant darts his eyes between Elijah and me. “Did you pick Elijah?”

“No.” Elijah exhales, his entire frame deflating. “She’s leaving.”

“You can’t leave yet!” Todd slinks out of the shadows and pushes his way to the front. “You have an announcement to make, and we need photos!”

“Tell Keller if he breaks your heart, I’ll kick his ass.” Elijah flashes a brittle smile.

I give him a genuine one in return. “If he breaks my heart, I’ll kick it myself.”

An out-of-breath Nicole catches me on the sidewalk, grabbing my arm like a lifeline. “How will you get him to forgive you?”

“I don’t know yet, but I have to try.” My thoughts race as I bunch my skirt into my fists and search for my car before remembering I didn’t drive myself. “Shit!”

The valet station is deserted, but a long black limo idles at the curb.

I knock on the tinted glass until the back window glides open, and one of the Kens pokes his head out.

“Kennedy! Did you change your mind about us?” He opens the door and climbs out.

His even-weirder cousin follows behind him. “We knew you couldn’t resist a matched set!”

A shudder rolls through me, as the world’s second-worst idea pops into my head. “What’ll it take for you to give me this limo for the rest of the evening?”

Their gazes collide and matching grins form on their faces. “Your underwear,” they chime in unison.

My mouth drops open. “You’re a couple of sick bastards, you know that?”

They shrug.
