Harper looks at the phone.
Then at me.
Then, very slowly, toward her husband.
“Micah Sanders.”
He looks up from his coffee. “Yeah?”
“You gave Olivia the wrong number.”
“I did not.”
“You literally read it to her.”
“I did.”
“And now she’s texting random men.”
He reaches his hand across the table. “Can I see?”
I hand him my phone.
He opens his contacts, finds Paul, then looks back at my phone.
Then smiles.
Not a smug smile. Just...a very Micah smile.
“I found the problem.” Micah turns the phone toward me. “You typed a two.”
I stare at him.
“It should’ve been a three.”
One digit.
One stupid digit.
“I accidentally asked a complete stranger on a date.” I sink a little lower in my chair. “I need to apologize.”
I take my phone back from him.
My thumbs hover over the keyboard.
I’m so sorry. Wrong number…
But before I finish typing, three little dots appear.
Harper gasps. “He’s typing!”
“I can see that.” I am far too invested in three gray dots.
The dots disappear.
Then another message slides onto the screen.
Good news...I like coffee.
