“Yes.”
“Yes?”
“Yes, I’ll go,” he told her.
“No making it weird.”
“Of course not.”
“We need to make rules,” she stated.
“Sure.”
She pulled out her phone and started a note. “I’m making a list.”
“Of course you are.”
“No unnecessary touching, no flirting, no pet names, and no real feelings.”
Noah nodded, solemnly. “Got it.” A second later. “How do you define flirting?”
“You know what flirting is.”
“I don’t think I’d be a very good fake date if I didn’t flirt with you,” he said slowly.
“Fine.”
“Define unnecessary touching?”
“Noah!” She hit his arm.
He laughed. “For real. What’s necessary touching?”
“I don’t know. I’m done talking to you. You’re already making it weird.”
“I thought that was against the rules.” He smiled.
“It is, so quit.” She added another rule to the list. “And no improvising.”
“That sounds difficult.”
“Why?”
“Because you haven’t told me our love story yet.”
Claire stared at him. “Our what?”
“People are going to ask how we got together, princess.”
“Noah, what did I say about pet names?” She groaned.
That was the second time he called her princess. She was not going to let him realize how much it affected her.
Noah leaned against the doorframe, still looking entirely too amused. “Anything else?”
“Yes. This is only for one night.”
“One night,” he agreed.
