Claire feigned offense. “I am not.”

“Claire,” he said, “we both know you would protest if I moved away from you right now.”

“Would not.”

“Okay.” He removed his arm from around her and scooted to the other side of the couch so that she wasn’t lying on him.

She frowned, which only made him find the situation funnier.

She lasted forty-three seconds.

Then she silently scooted across the couch and settled against him again as though she had never left.

“Told you.” He grinned, wrapping his arm around her and pulling her closer.

She buried her face in his chest. “Shut up,” she muttered.

“I mean you wouldn’t even let me let go of you to make us coffee the morning we admitted this was real.”

“So what? I’ve decided maybe I don’t like being alone. Deal with it.” She lifted her head to look at him.

“Happily.”

“You smell good,” she mumbled.

“Is that a compliment?”

“Observation.”

“Of course.”

Noah tipped her chin up and kissed her.

It was supposed to be quick.

At least, Claire assumed it was.

She had fully intended to let it be a quick kiss.

She really had.

But then Noah smiled against her lips, and she forgot whatever decision she had been planning to make.

When she leaned closer instead of pulling away, his hand settled against the side of her face. Her fingers rested at the back of his neck as he kissed her again.

Claire forgot about the remote still resting in her hand. Forgot about the coffee cooling on the table. For several very distracting seconds, she even forgot why they were sitting on the couch in the first place.

Noah pulled back just enough to look at her, clearly pleased with himself. Claire blinked at him.

“Can we watch the show now?” he asked innocently.

Claire stared at him. Then she gasped. “Noah Carter.”

“What?”

“You almost made me forget about Gilmore Girls.”

Noah had to be seriously good at kissing for there to be even the slightest possibility of her forgetting she was supposed to be watching Gilmore Girls.
