“You can do this baby. I’ll be here with you the entire time.” I nod, still catching my breath. The doctor checks me, then looks up.
“Arlene, it's time to push.”
My heart pounds. I look at Darian, and he tightens his hand around mine.
“We’re in this together.” Together? Together my ass. I don’t see him pushing a whole human out of his pussy. I draw in a breath as the next contraction begins.
“Push, Arlene, push.” Pain. I bear down, gripping Darian's hand as my muscles contract and my whole body trembles. I take a quick breath and keep pushing.
The doctor coaches, “Good. Take a breath. Again. Push, Arlene, push.”
If he says push one more fucking time, I’ll push his head through that fucking wall.
I breathe, then push again. Darian stays beside me, his voice close to my ear. “You're doing so well, baby.” Another contraction comes. I push, giving everything I have left. Then a cry fills the room. I freeze. For a moment, I can't do anything but listen.
Our pup, my wolf whispers.
The nurse places him against my chest, and I look down at him. “Oh, my Goddess.” He's warm. He's breathing. He's here. Tears spill down my cheeks as I touch his tiny back.
“Great job, baby.” Darian leans over us, his hand trembling as he touches our son. I look up at him.
“Darian.”
He kisses my forehead. “You did a great job, sweetheart.” I laugh through my tears. He kisses me, then leans down and kisses our son's head.
“Hey, little one.”
I look back down at him. “Arian Carter.”
Darian smiles. “Arian Carter.”
Our pup. He's here, my wolf murmurs.
I close my eyes for a moment. “Our pup. He’s alive.”
The nurse finishes checking on him, cleaning him up, and looks toward us. “Would you like anyone else to come in?” I look at Darian. “Damian and Darlene. It’s time for them to meet their little brother.” He nods.
“Selena? Can you bring Damian and Darlene in? We want them to meet their little brother.”
“Of course. We're coming.”
A few minutes later, Damian comes in first, with Darlene holding Selena's hand. Rylan follows them, stopping beside Selena near the doorway.
“Mommy!”
“Come here, sweethearts.”
Darian helps Darlene onto the chair beside him, and she leans forward to look at the little bundle in my arms.
“Is that him?”
I smile. “This is your little brother, Arian.”
Damian steps closer. “He's really little.”
Darian laughs softly. “He is.”
Darlene reaches out one finger. “Can I touch him?”
