“These are pretty snazzy,” he commented, ducking down to get a better look at the towering buildings.
“They’re pretty safe, too, and they’re worth every penny,” I said, finding a parking space in front of my building. Hart was already out of the passenger’s seat before I could kill the ignition.
“Thank you, Jesus!” he exclaimed when his feet touched the ground. He slammed the door shut, and with how theatrical he was, I half-expected him to drop to his knees and kiss the ground.
“You’re doing too much,” I said, attempting to drag him away before we were noticed. “Hold on,” he demanded, stopping in front of a car. “I didn’t know people still drove these little toy cars.”
“It’s not a toy car.”
“It is,” he insisted. “I could run over the son of a bitch in my Bronco and flatten it.” My lips twisted as Hart continued shitting on the car. “I bet some spoiled rich girl’s dad bought it for her sweet sixteen.” I pulled out the key fob from my purse and clicked it. The lights on the Miata flashed, and Hart’s eyes grew wider than saucers.
“For your information, it was a graduation gift from my grandfather.”
“Shit,” he mumbled under his breath. “I-I—”
I left him stammering at the courtyard entrance and swiped my resident card against the card reader.
“My bad, Sugar,” Hart apologized when he caught up to me.
“Don’t worry about it,” I said, pressing the elevator call button and standing on my toes to tug on his hoodie.
“No wonder you drive like a bat out of Hell. Is it standard?”
“It is.”
“Hmph. I bet you drive that car like you’re on a racetrack. You need something bigger with a roll cage with the way you drive.”
I smirked.
“It sounds like my sugar daddy is trying to upgrade me,” I purred.
“We’ll see. I’m tryna see those tricks you were talking about.”
I grinned and backed into the elevator, tugging him in with me. I swiped my card, and the doors closed behind us.
“I’ll show you mine if you show me yours.”
He leaned down to kiss me and groaned when his lips grazed my cheek. “Stop being a fucking tease, Vera. I agreed not to fuck you tonight, but according to my watch, it’s only three more hours until midnight.”

My panties were flooded by the time we entered my apartment. My head swam, and I felt dizzy with lust when Hart grabbed the back of my neck.
“Which way to your bedroom?” he whispered in my ear as he led me through my apartment like a bad dog.
“L-left.”
I didn’t have to look back to know he was smiling from ear to ear. That big ego loved what he was doing to me, and if we were keeping it a buck, I loved it even more. I was ready to toss all caution to the wind and jump his bones when he paused and asked, “What the hell is that?”
“What the hell is what?”
“What’s with the drum set?”
“Nothing. It’s just a kit,” I said dismissively, trying to bring him down for a kiss. I stamped my foot when he gently eased me aside to get a better look at the kit.
“This is not nothing, Sugar. This is… this is fucking professional,” he said, tapping one of the cymbal pads of the electric kit with a finger. You never mentioned you played the drums.”
“I dabble,” I lied, grabbing a notebook off my bed and shoving it into my desk before he could find it and flip through the pages.
