I nod. “Okay.”
She looks almost surprised. “Okay?”
“Yeah, Becks. Okay.”
“You're not going to ask a bunch of questions?”
“Do you want me to?”
“No.”
“Then no.”
Her shoulders relax, and I tuck a loose strand of hair behind her ear.
“You don't have to explain your past to me.”
“I know. I just wanted you to know.”
“Then I'm glad you told me.”
She studies my face. “I don't want to disappoint you.”
Fuck.
I slide my hand beneath her chin and gently tip her face toward mine.
“Listen to me.”
Her eyes meet mine.
“There's nothing you need to prove tonight.”
She swallows. “Okay.”
“And there's no fucking checklist of things we're supposed to do.”
A quiet laugh escapes her. “That's good. I left my pink notebook downstairs.”
Then I catch myself, shaking my head.
“Sorry. That was a terrible line.” She laughs properly this time.
“It was perfect, like you.”
She slides her hands beneath the open edges of my shirt.
I lean closer. “Tell me what you want.”
She takes a breath. “You.”
My chest tightens. “Be more specific, Becks.”
“I want you to kiss me.”
I brush my nose against hers. “Where?”
She considers the question. “Everywhere.”
