“How recently?”
“A couple months ago.”
“After Veronica?”
His eyes meet mine. “No. I haven’t gotten one since her.”
I nod slowly. “Okay.”
He watches me for a second. “Do you want me to get tested again?”
“I just…” I glance toward the hallway automatically, even though Theo is nowhere near us. “I just want to be safe about things. I don’t mean that you weren’t, I just…I know there were a more than a few woman and-“
Something in Simon's face softens. “Blaire. If you want to wait until I get tested, that’s fine. I can be an adult and get tested.”
“I’d appreciate that.”
He grins at me.
“Stop looking at me like that.” I cross my arms, weirdly feeling exposed.
“Like what?”
“Like you're waiting for me to finish talking so you can kiss me.”
“I am waiting for you to finish talking so I can kiss you.”
My stomach flips. “Oh.”
“Are you finished?”
I should probably say something mature. Something that proves I'm a grown woman capable of having an adult conversation about sexual health without immediately losing my train of thought because Simon Crane is looking at my mouth.
Instead, I nod. “Yeah.”
He pushes away from the counter. His hand settles at my waist, and mine automatically catches against his chest.
The kiss is brief, but electricity shots down my spine and slick pools in my panties.
His hand squeezes my hip and he rests his forehead against mine. “For the record, I'm nervous too.”
I stare at him. “No, you're not.”
“I absolutely am.”
Before I can ask him what the hell that's supposed to mean, Theo’s voice echoes from down the hall.
“DADDY!”
Simon closes his eyes.
I bite back a laugh.
“I CAN'T FIND MY ROBOT!”
Simon’s eyes stay on mine for another second before he lets his hand fall from my waist.
“Coming, kid.”
