She cut into her steak, skewering the morsel onto her fork, and popped it into her mouth. She chewed as she rumbled, “The only man I want to do in is you.”
Amusement fluttered around my lips, and I shook my head as I pulled out my stool. I plopped into it, grabbed my knife and fork, and deposited my own bite into my mouth.
A groan rumbled in my chest at the flavor.
The taste of garlic and onion and juicy, flavorful meat exploding on my tongue.
“Good lord, woman, you definitely found the magic number. This is incredible.” The words were all garbled and distorted considering my mouth was full.
They didn’t call me Heathen for nothing.
That little rendezvous back in Elena’s room was proof of that.
The gold sparked in those mesmerizing eyes. So big and wide and rimmed in hope.
“You like?”
I didn’t even realize I reached out and squeezed her thigh. “Yeah, Lena. I like.”
She grinned. “Wait until you taste the pie.”
THIRTY-SIX
ELENA
Trevan definitely liked the pie.
He sat on the couch next to me. Lounged back on the cushions with his long legs stretched out in front of him. He had both hands splayed across his stomach since he’d just stuffed himself with two pieces.
He wore sweats and a tee the way he always did at night.
The scenes on the television flickered across his stunning, striking face, and his hair was close to black in the dimmed light.
I was on the opposite end of the couch. Tucked into the corner with my legs curled up onto the seat.
It’s where we’d retreated after we’d eaten dinner, rewatching Vikings for the five-billionth time and still wondering how in the world Ragnar could cheat on Lagertha when she was the most beautiful badass who ever existed.
Hello, bad decisions.
Still, we were hooked.
Probably a little bit like what went down between me and Trevan earlier.
Bad, terrible decision?
TBD.
Still hooked?
That was an affirmative from me.
More than I’d ever been.
Because now that I’d gotten a taste, it would never be enough.
Trevan moaned for the umpteenth time. From pain or pleasure, I couldn’t tell. Probably a little bit of both.
“You are trying to kill a man.”
