For days.

Months.

For more than a year.

Slept behind buildings and scrounged for food.

Lost.

Drawn.

He ended up in Los Angeles. In front of the house that Meems had given him the address to before they left. Watching as the sun faded away and the night took hold.

Warmth and sorrow radiated.

A crux of who they were and what he had caused.

It was nearing ten when the door finally opened.

Silas tromped outside. A stir of rage whirled around his being.

His aura was so different and wrong.

He slammed the door shut and strode for the motorcycle that glinted beneath the moonlight in the drive.

Guilt locked Trevan’s throat as he stared, not sure what the fuck he thought he was doing there but sure he couldn’t go anywhere else.

Still, he remained in the shadows. Hidden in his shame.

Silas went to climb onto his motorcycle, only he froze, his shoulders visibly hefting with a surge of awareness.

He slowly shifted. His eyes keen as they swept over the opposite side of the road.

“Know you’re there,” Silas finally called.

Grief gripping him by the throat, Trevan stumbled out from the recesses and into the middle of the road.

Standing in the pour of moonlight.

Energy ricocheted between them.

Hate and disgust and relief.

Trevan didn’t care what it made him, he dropped to his knees. “Swear to you, Silas. On my life. I will never betray you again. Will never do anything to hurt this family or you. My oath is to you.”

THIRTY-NINE
