A Matter of Time

“What’s next?” Otto growled, shoving him back toward the living area. “Where’s the gold?”

The front door slid open, and everyone turned as Otto pulled his six-shooter and poked it into Doyle’s back.

Inside came the absolute last sight Doyle could have imagined. Nicole, Sadie, and another woman he recognized from security sashayed inside wearing what looked like dance hall costumes, complete with fishnets, ruffled skirts hitched up to the hip on one side, and ostrich feathers in their hair. Fear of how bad this could go made him suppress a groan.

Sadie carried a bottle of whiskey in each hand and the others each held trays full of glasses.

“Howdy again, boys,” Sadie said, pulling the cork out of each bottle with her teeth. “Thought we might as well bring you some refreshments while the men work on getting all the gold together. Who wants some?”

She poured the whiskey in her left hand out over all the glasses on Nicole’s tray as she took a swig from the other bottle.

“Go on then,” Nicole urged as Sadie filled the second tray.

A few of the men grabbed glasses. The gun stopped poking Doyle’s back as Otto grabbed first one glass and then another before shooting the whole thing back. Nicole handed Amos a glass with a smile that could kill.

Doyle wondered briefly if anyone else’s boss had ever done such a crazy thing for them. Sadie slipped over to his side and offered to share a swig of the bottle she’d drunk from.

“I don’t think this is the best time,” Doyle said, eyes wide.

Sadie leaned in, planting what he was sure would be a red lipstick stain on his cheek. “This one’s safe. The other one’s drugged.”

Doyle had time enough to raise his eyebrows before Otto swayed a couple feet in front of the security woman and fell with a resounding thud. One by one, each man went down, Amos last of all.

“We did it!” Sadie yelled, fist pumping the air and spilling whiskey on the carpet.

“Nice work, ladies,” Nicole announced. “Tia, call security, disarm them, and get them all restrained. I don’t care how you do it, just do it, and put them in the medcenter.” She focused on Doyle and Sadie. “You two get changed and join us there in an hour. We have some serious decisions to make, and they’ll involve you.”

Nicole swung around, her blond hair flying out behind her in a fan of shining curls as she marched from the room, already on her wristband with Jackson.

Doyle faced Sadie, who stared at him wide-eyed, gripping the neck of the whiskey bottle like it prevented her from falling.

“I’m sorry—” they both said simultaneously.

With a head shake, Sadie continued. “I screwed everything up. I thought I could help, but I only ended up risking everyone’s lives. I never wanted you to get hurt.”

Doyle reached forward and brushed her hair from her face before cupping her cheek in his hand. How have I gotten so damn lucky? Maybe there was something more at work than coincidence when he met her. Maybe time itself couldn’t keep them apart.

“Sadie, in the short stretch I’ve known you…it’s like you brought me to life. Like I wasn’t fully living or hadn’t opened my eyes all the way or, hell, I’m no good with words.”

“We don’t need words, Wally. Just show me how you feel.”

Sadie stood on tiptoe and pressed her mouth to his, awakening a passion he could never seem to tamp down when she was around him. She tasted enticingly of whisky, and he pulled her close, running his hands up her back as she sighed into him.

“Let’s get washed up and changed,” he said, nuzzling her neck.

“It might take some extra time, finding clothes,” Sadie said, fingertips leaving trails of electricity as they traveled up and down his back. “Or locating the medcenter…”

Doyle lifted her into his arms and walked her to the bedroom. Surely, Nicole and Jackson wouldn’t mind if they borrowed some clothes. Or the shower.

In a frenzy, they undressed each other, leaving a path of garments all the way to the bathroom where Doyle felt for the shower control buttons as they kissed. He couldn’t keep his hands off her.

They nearly fell into the shower. Multiple nozzles sprayed hot water at them from all angles. Sadie’s head rolled back as he pulled her nipple between his teeth, coaxing and teasing until it stood out hard beneath the beading water.

“What is this magic machine?” she breathed.

“It’s called a shower. I’m going to lather you up with soap,” he said, reaching for the foam dispenser.

His hands slid all over her body, from head to toe, exploring and massaging every crook and crease, the last of which made her shudder and moan against him. “Got to make sure I don’t miss a spot,” he mumbled, massaging her clit with his thumb as he slipped his fingers inside of her. He found her so hot and moist he, too, quivered with need. In mere moments, his shaft pressed against the flesh of her belly as she came for him, hard.

“My turn,” she said, breathless.

She gathered some soap and began exploring his body as he braced himself against the glass walls of the shower, feeling like he might lose control and sink to the ground. Sadie’s hands caressed him everywhere, her lips trailing down his chest, to his waist, and then to take his cock into her mouth. Slowly, she worked over the length of him while soaping his scrotum and what she couldn’t get in her mouth.

“Oh God, Sadie.” His hands slid against the shower walls as she rose again to hook her arms over his shoulders.

One look at her eyes, glazed with lust, and he couldn’t hold back anymore. He lifted and pressed her against the wall beneath the waterfall as she hooked her legs around his hips. Then he drove inside her, the heat and pressure of her bringing him to the brink.

“Yes,” she screamed, clutching him and digging her nails painfully into his shoulders.

All it did was make him more aroused, and he thrust inside in an instinctual and frantic rhythm until he couldn’t stop the climax that threatened to incinerate him.

“Fuck,” he said, leaning in and savoring the moment as they panted against each other.

“We sure as hell did,” Sadie said with a languid smile as she trailed a finger down over the muscles in his chest.

He kissed that mouth of hers and shut off the water. He could have gotten lost there with her for a lifetime, but they needed to get dressed and get down to the medcenter.

One thing he knew with certainty, no matter the outcome. His life was with Sadie, wherever and whenever that meant.
