“She is stable now.”

I sat back in the chair. “Define stable.”

“She is responding to the fluids, and her kidneys are functioning better. Her body is beginning to recover. I want to draw more blood and send it to the lab so we can make sure her organs are functioning properly.”

“Do whatever you need to do.”

By the time thirty-five hours had passed since she fainted, my phone buzzed with Darius’ name across the screen. I went out onto the balcony before answering.

“What?”

“Boss, you need to get back to Los Angeles.”

“Why?”

“Business that you don’t let anybody else touch.”

Of course it was.

Everything wanted to move the second I stepped away.

“I’ll be there soon.”

I ended the call and stayed outside for a minute, looking over the water before going back into the bedroom.

The nurse was fixing Azaria’s blanket. She was still asleep, but her breathing was deeper now, and she looked better than she had when I carried her upstairs.

“Can she be left here without me for a few days?”

“Yes. She is stable enough to continue treatment with the medical team.”

“If anything changes, call me immediately.”

“Of course.”

I walked closer to the bed. Azaria didn’t move or open her eyes. She probably didn’t even know I had spent the last day and a half sitting in the same room with her.

“You are a lot of fucking trouble,” I murmured.

I looked back at the nurse.

“Make sure she eats.”

“We will.”

“Make sure she doesn’t run again.”

The nurse smiled. “That will be difficult in her current condition.”

“I don’t care. Make sure.”

She nodded.

“Make sure she’s comfortable too.”

“We will.”

I grabbed my jacket and headed for the door because Los Angeles was waiting on me.
