“What’s wrong with your current outfit?”
“It’s summertime. I want to put on a dress. Take me to my apartment. I didn’t pack any dresses.”
He rolls his eyes. Seems like he does that a lot with me. “Okay, Princess Joyce. Let’s take you to your castle.” He grabs my hand and teleports us to my living room.
“I’ll wait out here,” Aiden says. I nod and quickly head into my room. Maybe this will provide me with a much-needed distraction.
I want to put something on that shows off my curves and my ass. I’ve been having dreams of Aiden and I’m sick of just dreaming. I should be enjoying my afterlife, that includes sex. So maybe I can tease him a little. I throw on a yellow halter top bodycon dress with some white sneakers and white crossbody bag. I put on gold hoops and fix my bun so it is a little more neat. Checking the mirror, I look fine as hell. I turn to get a glimpse of myself from the back. The back roll is rolling today. I hope everyone got some butter, ‘cause she’s coming out hot.
“I’m ready!” I yell as I walk into the living room. Aiden is sitting comfortably on the couch, laid back with his eyes closed. As he hears me approaching, he looks at me, slowly dragging his eyes down my body as if he is trying to memorize every curve.
I slowly twirl so he can see the whole dress, “How do I look?”
He raises a brow. “Like your usual self.”
I roll my eyes. “You are my biggest hater.”
He chuckles, then his eyes soften in a way I’ve never seen before. “You look like your usual self because you always look beautiful.”
Goosebumps spread across my skin and something in my chest twinges. Ignoring my reaction, he stands up and reaches for my hand. I snap out of my trance and grab his hand, my excitement growing with every second. I feel the tingling throughout my body and in the next second we are surrounded by colorful buildings. I gasp at the sight around me, shocked that people are just walking by as if the architecture itself isn't art.
“It’s beautiful,” I say. “Where are we?”
“Spain is a beautiful place.”
I look from the building to Aiden to see him already looking at me. I’ve always wanted to go to Spain.
“How did you know I wanted to go to Spain?” I question.
“When I was helping you clean up your apartment after it was broken into, I found your journal.” He raises his hands defensively when I squint my eyes at him. “I didn’t open it. It was already opened to the page where you said you wished you could’ve traveled when you were alive.”
I look him up and down and cross my arms. “I guess you’re off the hook.”
“Oh, thank goodness. Wouldn’t want to experience the all mighty wrath of Joyce Parker.”
“Damn straight.” I look around and clap my hands with excitement. There is so much for us to do. First things first—food. I grab Aiden’s wrist and drag him behind me. Off we go on an adventure of an afterlifetime.

Aiden and I are laying on a blanket near a river. His eyes are closed, so he may be sleeping. Which is well-deserved since he used a lot of energy to teleport us to all those places. We spent the rest of the day visiting so many countries that I lost count. We went to Haiti, Ethiopia, Peru, Australia, Japan, Canada and so many more.
We even made a stop in Jamaica to get my hair braided. I’ve grown tired of doing my hair every day and with everything that is going on, I don't have the time to do it. The good thing is that it didn’t take long because five women were working on my hair at the same time. I now have knotless braids that fall past my waist. While my hair was being done, Aiden sat on a chair nearby and played candy crush on his phone, talking to the locals who stayed next to him the whole time. He smiled and joked with them as they fed him all kinds of food.
A breath of deep contentment leaves my mouth. Today was the best day I have ever had, and it’s thanks to Aiden. He still confuses me. Sometimes we are cordial and other times he seems as though he’d rather be anywhere else than with me.
No longer wanting to debate what he thinks of me, I turn to look at him, placing my hand under my head for support. He is laying on his back, eyes still closed, his face peaceful.
I whisper, “Are you awake?”
He turns his head to look at me, making some of his hair fall over his forehead. “Yeah.”
I hesitate. “Can I ask you a question?”
His brows tug together. “Go ahead.”
“Why does it seem like you don’t like me sometimes? Like I understand my hostility with you at first, ‘cause you coerced me into being your lawyer. But what issue do you have with me?”
Looking taken aback at my question, he doesn’t answer immediately. He turns his head to look at the sky. I continue to look at him.
