The Writer’s Block

“JJ!” I hear a shout. I open my eyes, confused as to my surroundings. Then, I realize I’m in one of the lounges at the stadium. I slowly sit up, groaning slightly at the tightness in my shoulder from being tackled to the ground. It feels like I was the one playing football today.

“Josephine!”

The sound of doors being opened and shut echoes in the hallway before the door to my room is thrown open, revealing a recently showered Caleb. His hair is still damp, making his dark, tight curls glisten. He’s wearing a black t-shirt with his team logo on it and a pair of black sweatpants.

He rushes in, his face tight with anger. I stand from the couch as he reaches me.

I raise my hands. “In my defense, I—”

“I’ll kill that bitch,” he seethes out. He grabs my chin and examines my face, stopping at my lips.

“What happened to your lip?” he asks.

I shrug. “It’s probably from when she threw her wine glass at me.”

He freezes. “She threw a wine glass at you?”

“Yeah, it sucked. She got wine all over my jersey that my mom just had customized. You think it’ll come out?”

He slowly nods. “I’ll be right back.”

If I haven’t known him for all these years, I would think he calmed down. But I know that nod. It’s his ‘I’m about to lose my mind’ on something nod. Nothing good comes from that.

I grab his arm to stop him. “What’s wrong with you?”

Giving me an incredulous look, he says, “What’s wrong with me? She attacked my best friend. I’m going to make sure she’s banned from coming to games.”

I purse my lips. “To be fair, I instigated the situation.”

He points to my lip. “From what I heard, she attacked you first.”

“True. But you can’t go making this a bigger deal. You already are being looked at because of the viral post. You don’t need to go viral again for intimidating your teammate's girl.”

He looks at me for a moment, then lets out a deep breath. “Fine. But did you at least get some hits in?”

I grin. “Oh, yeah.”

A proud grin stretches across his face, and he grabs my hand. “Come on. Let’s get you home so you can change. We can skip the celebration party that Trevor is hosting and just order food.”

“Wait, you won? We should go.” I don’t want this minor tussle to take away from his first win of the season.

He gives me a cocky smile that sends shock waves straight to my core. “You’re talking to me. Of course, I won. That's all I do.”

I roll my eyes. “You need to learn some humility.”

“I’ll do that when I stop being so good,” he murmurs as he pulls me to his body and runs his hand down my back, stopping when he grabs my ass. “Have I not been good to you?”

Yep, straight to my core.

“Caleb…”

“I’ve been thinking about fucking you while you have this jersey on. The whole game, that’s all I thought about. It’s probably why I won. To get to you as quickly as possible,” he whispers in my ear, causing my whole body to tremble.

I look down at my jersey. “It has wine on it.” Slowly, he backs me up until the back of my knees hit the armrest of the couch.

He smirks. “I don’t care. It has my name on it. I like that.”

His hands grab my hips and spin me to face the couch. With my back to him, he gently pushes me down until I'm bent over the armrest. I feel him press himself against me, and heat pools in my lower belly.
