“I’ll start from the beginning,” she suggests as if she’s doing me a favor. “I don’t even mind rewatching the first half with you.”

I nod. “You’re damn right you are going to start it from the beginning.”

She gives me that wide, brown eyes look that has made me fall to my knees since the day we met. “Pizza and a show, then?”

“I ordered us pizza on the drive back.” I smile proudly at the fact I knew exactly what she would crave. “It should be here soon.”

She places a hand on her chest. “Cross, you’re truly my favorite person in the whole wide world.”

“I better be.”

I help her with her hair for the next fifteen minutes until the pizza arrives. We decide pizza in bed is the best option.

“What are you doing?” she asks in disgust.

I pause, the tip of my pizza touching the ketchup I poured into a small container. “Um, I saw someone do this in a video. Seemed like a good idea.”

She gives me a bewildered look. “If you dip that pizza inside that ketchup, I’m calling the cops and reporting you for assault.”

“Pizza is made with tomato sauce. Ketchup comes from tomatoes. How is that assault?”

“I said what I said, Cross.”

One Week Later

Drinking at the bar is always an interesting experience. I especially like it since I rarely ever have to pay for my own drinks.

I raise my glass to the attractive man, and he goes to stand up. I shake my head at him and mouth ‘boyfriend’. He nods and sits back down, looking around for another woman to flirt with. If I wasn’t already doing this whole fake relationship with Caleb, I would’ve considered that guy.

Here, I was hoping to have a jealous Caleb decide to randomly come downstairs not knowing that I’m here. He turns his head and sees a guy trying to flirt with me and gets all territorial. Then, he confesses his love for me.

Alas, I’m delusional.

Bringing myself back to reality, I pick up my phone and reply to unread messages as I enjoy my lemon drop.
