“Have you got your eye on someone?” Amy asked, suddenly curious.

“None of your business!” Carole retorted.

She blushed as heads turned towards her. The brothers crowded round.

“He better fuckin’ treat you good,” Hercules ground out.

“I’ll fuckin’ drag him hogtied behind a horse,” Razor threatened.

“Over-protective much?” Carole snapped. “It doesn’t involve you.”

That told them, or so I thought.

“Wait till Vortex finds out,” Chill chortled.

Carole sent him a death stare. “Broken. Bed.”

Chill continued grinning. “I’m damn proud of that. Nobody else broke their bed pleasuring their old lady. Vortex and Inglorious are letting the side down.”

“Are we now?” Inglorious demanded, approaching.

“Yup. I broke the bed. You clearly ain’t banging Nanci hard enough,” Chill taunted.

Nanci, behind Inglorious, rolled her eyes at me, then came over and sat next to me. “The kids are fine. We got them out when we realised what was going to happen. They’re having breakfast in the restaurant with the prospects as a treat,” she said.

I nodded as Inglorious’s voice rose. “Just because you broke the bed, it doesn’t mean you’re better than me!”

“Wanna bet? I fuck way better than you!” Chill retorted.

“Why?” Twitch wailed. “What the hell is the matter with you? Can’t we have one day where you’re not all obsessed with fucking?”

“Why do you always walk in at the wrong end of things?” Inglorious demanded.

“You lot are fuckin’ sex mad! That’s all there is to it,” Twitch retorted.

“Should have named him Porn Star or Virgin,” Chill muttered, and I began laughing. These damn people. They were insane at times.

My phone pinged, and I pulled it out and looked down. “Oh, the realtor’s got an offer on the house,” I said. Chill glanced over as I frowned. “I need to view some houses. Can I have a prospect with me?”

“For what?”

“I have to find a house. The kids and got to live somewhere.”

Chill scowled and then disappeared. I wondered what I’d done to upset him. Moments later, he was back with a roll of blueprints.

“You’ve seen my place. Right now, it’s just open, wide spaces. These are my plans, but make any changes you want.”

“I don’t understand.” It was my turn to frown.

“You and me, we’re doing this, right? Then we live together. Why bother buying somewhere only to move in with me a few months later? Unless you aren’t looking long term?”

“Are you?” I asked.

“She went there,” Nanci muttered, shaking her head as I ignored her. I needed to hear from Chill that we had a future.

“I love you. Ain’t ever gonna say that to another woman and mean it. We’re building something together, or so I thought?” Now Chill looked uncertain.

“Chill, I want that; I just didn’t want to make assumptions,” I said quickly.
