“I think I love you too,” I whispered.

For a moment, he looked stunned. Then the most beautiful smile spread across his face.

“Yeah?”

I laughed through my tears. “Yeah.”

He started to lean toward me. I tilted my head, parting my lips as anticipation curled in my belly.

And then…

“Holy shit. Greyson Lynch?”

We both froze. Two men were approaching us from the direction of the elevators, and I recognized them immediately. Ryan and Jake.

Ryan looked almost embarrassed by his own excitement as they both rushed toward us, but he was grinning.

“Sorry to interrupt,” he said. “I just… man, I’m a huge fan. I had to come say hello.”

Greyson blinked, clearly trying to pull himself back into the real world. Then he stood. “No problem.”

Ryan offered his hand. “Ryan. Ryan Mitchell.”

“Nice to meet you.”

“And this is my brother, Jake.”

Jake shook Greyson’s hand too. I stood, wiping the last traces of tears from my cheeks.

Ryan looked surprised, as if he was so starstruck that he hadn’t noticed me sitting there when he approached. “Heather? You know Greyson Lynch?”

I laughed. “Yeah. We met earlier this week.”

Jake glanced between us, a knowing smile spreading across his face. Ryan was still looking at Greyson like he couldn’t believe his luck.

“I’ve been following your career for years. Man, I can’t believe you’re here.”

Greyson chuckled. “Just enjoying a vacation.”

“With Heather?” Jake asked. “Are you guys together?”

I opened my mouth. Then closed it again. What was I supposed to say?

We hadn’t exactly established what we were to each other yet.

Greyson slipped an arm around my waist and drew me gently against his side.

“I’m her boyfriend,” he said.

My heart gave a ridiculous little flutter.

I was not a secret. Not some woman he barely knew. Not someone who meant nothing.

His girlfriend.

I looked up at him, and he smiled down at me.

And for the first time since I’d heard those terrible words outside the resort, the ache in my chest finally began to fade.
