“Don’t sound so surprised.”

“I’m just saying.”

I slipped an arm around her waist and pulled her closer. “Besides, you’re forgetting something.”

“What’s that?”

I grinned. “Doesn’t matter where you end up. Louisville, Illinois, Indiana, the damn moon. You’re still mine.”

Her eyebrows rose. “Yours?”

“Mine.”

She laughed. “Well, look at you, getting all possessive.”

“You got a problem with that?”

She pretended to consider it. Then she shook her head.

“Nope. I think I kind of like this side of you.”

“Good.”

I kissed her, deeper this time, pouring all of my newly-embraced emotion into it. When she melted against me, wrapping her arms around my neck, I knew one thing with absolute certainty.

Whatever came next, wherever life took us, I wasn’t letting this woman go.

“Are you seriously eating another one of those?”

I looked up from the plate balanced on my lap and found Angela staring at me. “What?”

“That’s your third.”

I glanced down at the miniature crab cake in my hand. “So?”

“So, you ate a giant pretzel when we got here, and then you had two hot dogs.”

“First of all, they were mini hot dogs. Second, I’m hungry.”

“You’re always hungry.”

“Don’t judge. I’ve got a healthy appetite and a curvy ass to maintain.”

Angela rolled her eyes, but her lips curled into a smile. I popped the crab cake into my mouth and smirked at her.

It was the last Sunday in December, and I was sitting in a luxurious private suite at a football stadium in Louisville, watching the Bobcats play the final game of the regular season. This wasn’t the first game I’d attended in the last six months, and I’d come to really enjoy football. I was an official Bobcats fan.

The suite was full of family members of coaches and players, along with a few friends who had been invited to watch the game. There was enough food to feed a small army, several enormous televisions, and a spectacular view of the field.

And, best of all, it was warm.

I glanced through the glass at the bundled-up fans in the stands and shivered. It wasn’t snowing, but it was damn cold. Nights like this really made me miss Sirona Isle.

But I was happy to be here.

“Hey, Heather!”
