I looked down at the necklace again. It was beautiful. The most thoughtful gift anyone had ever given me.
“Greyson,” I whispered. “I love it.”
His smile softened. “Yeah?”
I nodded. “So much.”
He brushed a tear from my cheek.
Then his expression grew serious. “There’s something else.”
I looked at him. “What?”
He took my hand. “I know you’ve been looking at apartments near campus.”
I nodded. “Yeah. I found a couple that look pretty good.”
“I know, but I don’t want you to rent one.”
“What?”
He squeezed my hand. “Move in with me.”
For a moment, I couldn’t speak. I just stared at him.
“I’ve got plenty of room,” he said. “You can have your own office for studying, and if you need space to work, we’ll make it happen.”
My heart was racing. “I don’t know…”
“And I know it’s a big step. I’m not asking you to rush into anything you’re not ready for.” He paused. “But I’m tired of saying goodnight to you over the phone. I’m tired of waking up without you beside me. And now that you’re moving here, I don’t want to spend another night apart if we don’t have to.”
My throat tightened.
“I want you here, Starlight. Not just visiting. Living here. With me.”
I stared at him. The man who’d once been terrified of commitment was asking me to move into his home.
And the best part?
He didn’t look afraid. He looked hopeful and certain. Like he knew exactly what he wanted.
And what he wanted was me.
I smiled through my tears. “There’s something I need to ask first.”
“Anything.”
“Is Christine okay with this?”
Greyson’s expression softened. “God, I love you.”
I laughed. “That’s not an answer.”
“No, but it means the world to me that you’re thinking about her.”
“Of course I am. This is her home too, Grey. I don’t want her to feel like I’m moving in and taking over.”
He shook his head. “Trust me, that’s not going to be a problem.”
