“For my staff, yes.”

“And for mine.”

Her pout grew poutier. He ached to reach over and draw her lower lip between his teeth, rolling it there, before kissing her senseless.

“Is that what I am?”

“For another four days or so, yes.”

Her eyes shifted to his quickly then blinked away. “What about Ellie’s room?”

His gut twisted sharply. “She hasn’t agreed to it.”

Chloe’s gaze moved to the house, her eyes scanning the façade. “It’s a shame, you know,” she said.

His breath caught in his throat at the sight of her, so intoxicatingly beautiful. “What’s that?”

“I’d love to do the job.”

“The whole house?”

She turned to look at him, her features showing consternation. “It would be really, really stupid, but…so tempting.”

“Stupid why?”

“Because of this,” she said. “We agreed. No hurting.”

“I’m not going to hurt you.”

“You don’t want to hurt me, but it’s not really in your power to promise that you won’t.” Her brows knit together. “Am I making sense?”

Yes, he wanted to say. But he wasn’t yet prepared to concede the point. “We can talk about it later. Let’s get you inside.”

She leaned back against the seat, staring straight ahead. “I’m not sure I can walk.”

“No problem, agape. I can carry you.”

She turned to face him. “You’re very strong.”

He almost laughed. “And you’re a lightweight.”

“I weigh—Oh. You mean the champagne?”

He nodded once.

“I don’t tend to day drink,” she said defensively.

“It wasn’t a criticism. Just something I’m noting for next time.”

“There won’t be a next time. Four days, remember.” She held up four fingers in front of his face. “That will go like this.” She clicked them.

He fought a smile. “I have an idea.”

She nodded without speaking.

“Want to hear it?”

“I don’t know. Do I?”
