She arched against him, and his lips skimmed her cheek as she struggled to breathe. His teeth grazed her jaw as he went to her ear.
“When we fuck, Lucinda, it won’t be because you’re shit-faced on witch-wine,” he whispered. “It’ll be because you want it so bad you’ll be begging for it.”
She was about to start begging right then—until he pulled away and she saw his wicked grin.
He was amused. AMUSED.
She scoffed, pushing him, and he flopped onto his back, laughing. “You are the literal worst,” she seethed, sitting up. “All I asked was a simple question.”
“Here’s your simple answer: We didn’t do anything,” he said, staring up at the ceiling. “You did try and seduce me, but I’m not keen on hooking up with half-conscious women, so you just fell asleep. Adorable, really.”
Embarrassment flushed through her. She did kind of remember trying to seduce him, now. While she was glad that he hadn’t taken advantage, she was pissed off at how cocky he was about it.
She threw off the sheet and, in a swift motion, climbed on top of him, straddling his hips. His eyes widened, but he was still amused.
With a glare, she leaned forward and kissed him hard on the lips, shocking them both. He was quick to recover, hand reaching for her hair. As he opened his mouth against hers, she bit his bottom lip and rolled off him.
“What was that you were saying?” she asked, voice sweet as she stood above him.
He was speechless, stunned. He blinked at her, lips red.
“I-I don’t remember,” he stammered.
“That’s what I thought.”
She gave him a triumphant smile before going into the bathroom, slamming the door shut behind her. Her heart pounded; she still felt his minty-fresh mouth on hers, his impossibly soft lips.
She turned to glance in the mirror, where she looked as if she had been thoroughly railed: Her dark hair was a mess, her cheeks were flushed, and she was wearing his shirt, which just barely covered her butt.
She threw his shirt and her torn underwear off, then turned on the shower, slapping her cheeks.
“Get ahold of yourself, woman,” she said.
She could not do something ridiculous like fall in love with him. It would only break her heart once he left.
Maybe she shouldn’t have kissed him, even if it was just to make him shut up, but he’d apparently had some fun with her last night, and she deserved a bit of fun as well. She was a feminist, after all.
She touched a finger to her lips; they were burning. She looked at the door, hand twitching to throw it open and get back into his bed with him.
Instead, she turned the water to freezing and got into the shower, screeching as the water hit her. But it was enough to cool her blood, at least, and when she was done, she felt very calm indeed.
After she dried off, Lucy magicked herself some clothes: a matching loungewear set that was both comfy and cute. When she opened the bathroom door, Grayson was nowhere to be found, but she smelled breakfast cooking. Her stomach rumbled.
Now that the confusion of the morning and her horniness had worn off, she was starving, not to mention the headache that was quickly overcoming her. Witch-wine hangovers always had a bit of a delayed effect, anyway, and she was feeling it now.
Lucy went down the stairs, groaning as she entered the kitchen and heard the very loud sounds of the coffee machine churning and the exhaust fan running. Grayson stood at the stove in a T-shirt and sweatpants, an apron tied around his slutty little waist as he flipped pancakes. God, he was ridiculous. She wanted to bite him.
“Morning,” Lucy said, sitting at the counter beside Charles. She rubbed her temples.
“Morning,” Charles croaked. He didn’t look much better off than she felt.
“Look who’s finally made it down,” Grayson said, not the least bit hungover.
“This is so unfair,” Lucy said, glowering. “Why aren’t you dying like we are?”
“Because I had two shots and you had about twenty,” Grayson replied, depositing a pancake onto her plate. It had chocolate chips in it, and they were arranged into a smiley face.
She gave him a look of disgust. How could he be so chipper when her head felt like it was exploding?
