After getting the information she needed from me, she told me officers were being sent out to check on me.

“Thank you.”

I ended the call and lowered my phone. When I looked over at Cassian’s friend, the motherfucker was staring at me.

“What?” I asked.

He shook his head, but that little smirk was already creeping back into his face.

“Nothing.”

“Exactly.”

He pulled out his phone and started dialing. I didn’t know who he was calling.

He walked a little farther away from me before putting the phone to his ear. I couldn’t hear everything he was saying, but from the few words I caught, he wasn’t telling Cassian exactly what I had done.

Which was good, because I wanted his ass to be surprised when he got here.

As I waited for the police to show up, I heard the front door open and close.

I looked up and saw Cassian walking in.

“Aye, shorty, what the hell you got going on?” he asked, looking between me and his friend with one eyebrow raised.

“I’m pretty sure your lil’ friend already told you.”

“Nah, he ain’t tell me shit.”

Before his friend could open his mouth, somebody knocked on the front door.

A smile immediately spread across my face. Cassian looked at me, and I looked right back at him.

“What?” he asked.

“Go answer the door.”

His eyes narrowed before he turned and walked over to it. He looked through the peephole, then slowly turned his head in my direction.

I smiled even harder.

Yeah, nigga.

Surprise.

Cassian shook his head before opening the door.

“Good afternoon, officers.”

“Good afternoon, Mr. Jefferson,” one of them replied. “We received a call from someone at this address saying they were being held here against their will.”

“Yeah, it was me!” I called out from the living room.

Cassian slowly looked over his shoulder at me.

“Sir, is it okay if we speak with her?”

“Go ahead.” He stepped aside. “That’s my fiancée. She mad at me right now.”
