Blinding Lights

“Maybe.” A tightness works its way into my chest, but I ignore it. The last thing I need is to become protective of my sister's best friend. Worrying about Henley is a full-time job already. “Best of luck.” I turn to leave until she grabs my arm to stop me.

“Can you come in? Just in case I wasn’t at the wrong door last night and someone else found my key.”

Fuck. I hadn’t thought of that. Without giving her a response, I stalk into the room, expecting to find someone waiting for her, pleased to discover I’m wrong. Just in case, I check every spare inch, disregarding the lace panties on the floor since they could very well be my sister’s.

“You’re good,” I tell her when I’m done, meeting her back at the entry. “I’m going to call down to the front desk and ask if they can cancel the lost card. I should have thought of that when we were there.”

“Good idea. Thank you.”

“If you're worried, I’m just next door.” I gesture toward my room and Lily nods softly.

“I’ll be fine. Thanks.”

I nod in return and turn to walk away again, but she stops me for a second time, throwing her arms around my shoulders before lifting to her toes and pressing her lips to my cheek. “I mean it,” she whispers softly in my ear. “Thank you.” She pulls back slightly, another pinkish hue coating her skin. “I’m not sure what I would have done if I hadn’t found you last night.”

Her blush deepens as she nervously worries her lip, and the world around me ceases to exist, my focus shifting to the soft rise and fall of her chest as I swallow a lump in my throat.

Her breathing quickens, and she glances up at me through thick lashes, her shimmering blue eyes boring into mine…and I’m done for.

My hands curl around her waist, feeling the boning of her corset as I lean in, capturing her mouth in a gentle kiss. She freezes, likely caught off guard, and it’s a torturous few seconds before her soft lips mold to mine and a quiet whimper escapes her.

The heated sound sends my mind in a tailspin, and an urgency takes over me.

I crowd into her, tilting her back so I can deepen the kiss, and she mewls against my lips, the vibrations traveling south, making my cock twitch for a second time tonight.

Gliding a palm up her corset, I reach her breast and pause when she arches her back, her breathing frantic as she answers my silent question.

She wants more, and fuck if I can stop myself from giving it to her.

I gently run my thumb along the curve of her breast, and Lily drops one hand from around my neck, giving me better access as she curls her other hand into my hair, lightly tugging at the strands. A groan escapes me, and I’m about to release her from the cup of her costume when a loud bang snaps me out of my daze and my breath catches. Fuck. What am I doing?

“Sorry.” I abruptly pull away and immediately take a step back, bumping into the open door behind me. The. Open. Door. Of my sister’s room. Motherfucker. “I—” Fuck, I don’t even know what to say.

“Thank you for that too.” Lily lets me off the hook, her breathing ragged while she runs her fingers over her lips. “At least now I don’t feel like my efforts were wasted.”

I internally cringe until she giggles softly, and a little part of me wants to kiss her again. The part of me that clearly doesn’t see reason.

“Don’t look so worried.” She lightly shoves my chest, and I almost grab her hand to pull her back into me. “Thanks to you, I can honestly say I hooked up this weekend.”

“Lily, I—”

“That was as much me as it was you,” she cuts me off but I shake my head.

“I don’t want to say that I shouldn’t have done that but…”

“You shouldn’t have done that?” she answers for me, raising a brow.

“Yeah.” My chest burns but I’m not wrong.

“Likewise. So…let’s keep it to ourselves. We were both just delirious from the lack of sleep. Now I better get ready or I’m going to be late.”

“O-of course,” I stumble over my words, subtly looking for any clues as to whether or not she’s telling the truth. The last thing I want is to walk out of here and have her hate me for it.

She raises an eyebrow when I don’t move, laughing again. “Soo…”

“Right. I’ll let you do your thing.”

“Thanks. You’re not coming, are you?”
