“What?” I asked as I tried to move the person’s hand that was shaking me awake.

“And I thought you were a real nigga.” He chuckled.

I sat up and noticed my family was all staring at me with smiles on their faces.

“What happened?” I asked.

“You passed out,” G-Pop said.

Chyanne shoved her phone in my face to show me that she caught the exact moment when I fainted. They all laughed. Maybe later I’d think it was funny, but right now I didn’t see my fiancé or daughter, so I started to panic a little.

Before I could ask, they rolled Trouble and my little princess into the room. I walked over and looked for any sign of harm or anything wrong with Justice.

“I’m fine, baby,” she reassured me. “Sit down so you can meet your baby girl.”

I did as instructed. When she placed my daughter in my arms, everything clicked into place. They were both perfect as I looked at them. When I looked around the room, I realized everyone had made it and was smiling as they took pictures of my daughter and me.

“Have you guys decided on a name for baby Legend yet?” A nurse asked.

“No, not yet,” Justice said.

“Is there an officiant on-site?” I asked.

“I’m sure there is.” She looked to Trouble. “Do you need one?”

“Yes,” I answered for her, and she nodded and went on her mission to bring me back an officiant. I turned to Justice. “This just made me realize that baby Legend will have my last name, but you won’t. I promise we can have another wedding later, but I can’t have you out here like that, so we are going to fix this now.”

“I don’t need a wedding. This is all I need.”

“That may be true, but I still want to see you walk down the aisle to me wearing a white dress. We can still keep it small and possibly have it somewhere intimate.”

“Like the backyard?” she suggested, and I agreed.

“Whatever you want, baby.”

When the officiant came in, he married us, and our family served as witnesses. We kept it short because, first, it wasn’t expected, and now everyone was dying to get back to the baby.

“I pronounce you Mr. and Mrs. Legend. You may kiss your bride.”

Jamie took her niece from me so that I could kiss Justice as nastily as I wanted to. When it was all said and done and Justice was now officially my wife, I was on cloud nine. I walked towards Jamie to take the baby back, and Jamie whispered so that only I could hear.

“Thank you for being Justice’s Chance. You have held my sister together, and I thank you for that,” Jamie said. “You both are pretty lucky to have one another. Don’t fuck this up.”

She ain’t say shit but a word. Justice ran me, and I was okay with that. For the rest of visiting hours, we let our families hold our baby. We agreed that once we were discharged, we would not let anyone over so we could focus on ourselves and spend time with Chance Jr. I wasn’t sure how Justice felt about the name I suggested, but she ended up loving it. For the next two days, I spent every moment in this hospital, not wanting to miss a single one. When we were discharged, I drove fifteen miles an hour. What would have taken forty minutes almost took two hours, but I didn’t care. I had fragile packages, and I intended to get them home safe and sound.

JUSTICE

THREE YEARS LATER

I’d been on tour for the past two months, and I was ready to finally take a break. A few months after I gave birth, I was signed to Sweet Confessions Records. The song I had recorded with Azul did crazy numbers, and I had everyone reaching out to work with me, but the only person Chance and I trusted was whoever Lyric trusted, so that led me back to SCR.

Chyanne was probably more excited because when I was in town, she volun-told me that I would be making occasional appearances at Code Red. I countered that request and agreed to two appearances a year. Chance and I still went as often as we could but always made sure we had a private section. It was funny how things could be the same, yet still so different.

We decided I would go on tour once my baby was three, so here I was, finishing up my first successful tour. We agreed on three years because I didn’t want to miss any important milestones. Between Chance and me, I didn’t know who was worse. He had flown home every chance he got just to spend most nights with her. He hated being away from her because he was creating core memories, as he’d say. He had to read to her every night before bed. He allowed her to pick one book as a repeat but always encouraged her to pick something new.

I couldn’t lie, because of him and our nanny, Chance Jr. was so freaking smart. We had promised her that we would take her on Holiday this summer. Yes, I know I said Holiday. Blame Peppa Pig. My baby was talking like that damn British pig.
