I put a finger on the bracelet and it felt warm on my skin.
I wanted to keep it because it was something from my family history, but…
“Don’t argue, Jenna,” Conner insisted. “Let Brock take you home. I’ll tell you what I know about your great-grandparents someday.”
“Let’s go, Jenna,” Brock urged. “I don’t like being in a place like this where I can’t protect you. They refused to let me bring any weapons.”
With that, he picked me up and cradled me in his arms.
Brock and Conner exchanged a look, but they didn’t speak as Brock carried me toward the bedroom door.
“I can walk,” I insisted.
He kept walking. “Are we really going to go through that again?” he asked. “You were drugged, Jenna, and I’m in a hurry to get us out of here.”
I smiled as I realized he was talking about the first time I was kidnapped and insisted that I could walk.
“You came for me,” I said with a sigh.
I just wanted to go home, and if Brock really wanted to carry me, I wasn’t going to argue.
“I think you knew that I would,” he said gruffly. “I’m always going to come for you, sweetheart.”
I laid my head on his shoulder, my vision a little blurry from the drugs.
Yeah, I knew he was going to come for me because I was his and he was mine.
“I love you,” I told him. “I regretted the fact that I didn’t tell you that before I was kidnapped again. Before I was drugged, I swore I’d tell you as soon as I saw you again.”
His arms tightened around me as we walked outside.
“I love you, too, Stargazer. But I have a feeling you already know that, too.”
Chapter 30
Brock
I’d probably known that Jenna loved me, too, but damn it had been nice to hear those words come from her lips.
I’d taken her straight to the airport, and we were in the air within thirty minutes.
I’d thought about taking her to a doctor, but the time that would take wasn’t worth the risk.
I could treat her myself.
She needed to hydrate, and have a light meal and some rest. It would take a while for the drugs to wear off completely, but she’d be okay once the side effects were gone.
Besides, I was assuming all hell was about to break loose in the city because Conner was going to be sending some messages.
“How did you know that I was taken?” Jenna asked as she rested in the bedroom of Conner’s private jet.
I sat on the side of the bed and handed her a bottled water.
We’d caught up on a few things, but we had a lot to talk about.
All of that discussion wasn’t going to happen right now.
Jenna looked worn out, and she could use a long nap on the way home.
