Some kind of happiness.
Some kind of normal.
And this amazing, beautiful man was offering that up to me with no strings attached.
Oddly, he actually seemed like he genuinely wanted to spend time with me.
He was also very willing to let me stay with him in a place where I felt safe.
Yeah, it would only be temporary, but wasn’t that better than flying back to my empty house in Los Angeles right now?
I’d been incredibly lonely since Nina had moved out of the country.
Would it really hurt to steal some companionship for a while?
“Are you sure?” I queried hesitantly.
“I’m sure,” he said hoarsely. “Stay, Jenna. Heal from your experience in Mexico here. I like having you here with me.”
God knew I wanted to be with him, but I wasn’t sure what we were going to do with the crazy chemistry between the two of us.
It’s time to admit it’s there for both of us.
I’d been in denial, but it was finally time for me to deal with the fact Brock was attracted to me, too.
It was crazy, and I didn’t understand it, but that chemistry went both ways.
He acted like he didn’t even see my scars.
Of course, he hadn’t seen all of them, but I had a feeling he wouldn’t run away even if he did see them all.
I wasn’t going to delude myself anymore and pretend like it wasn’t there for both of us.
I could feel the sexual tension zinging in the air around us, and Brock was looking at me the same way I knew I was looking at him right now.
There was something there between the two of us.
Neither one of us had mentioned it, but I knew that we both felt it.
I didn’t completely get it because I’d never felt this kind of overwhelming lust before.
The question was, did I really want to explore that attraction by spending more time with this man?
Yes.
Yes, I did.
I nodded slowly. “I think I’d like that,” I said in a breathless voice.
He grinned at me and gently kissed my forehead. “I’ll make damn sure that you don’t regret that decision.”
I might, but not because I wouldn’t enjoy every moment that we spent together.
Accepting his offer had been brave for me, and I had a feeling I was going to be willing to jump headfirst into this new adventure.
Brock was special, someone who was worth the risk of doing something different from my normal, and that scared the living hell out of me.
