He coaxed.

Cajoled.

Teased me until I was squirming to feel that wicked tongue everywhere on my body all at once.

When the kiss became more insistent, our tongues dueled with a passion that took my breath away.

I ached for more…

“Brock,” I moaned when we finally came up for air.

He buried his face in my neck and nipped at the sensitive skin. “Don’t ever doubt how much I want you, Jenna,” he said gruffly right before he licked over the bite he’d taken of my skin. “My desire is going to take a backseat for now, but it’s going to be there every goddamn time I see you and every moment I spend with you. I promised myself that I’d give you time, and I plan on keeping that promise.” He pulled back with obvious reluctance until he could see my face. “What are your plans for today? I’m going to make an appointment with that counselor as soon as possible.”

I almost wished that he hadn’t decided to stop, but deep inside I knew that I needed time to get used to the flood of emotions I felt when he was touching me.

I didn’t want to let him go yet, so I tightened my arms around his neck. “I still have plenty of time to finish my book, but I really need to write a blog post. It’s been a while. I want to post about the meteorite in Mexico. Thank God I had my phone set to automatically upload my pictures to the cloud or I’d be screwed right now. Marshall had them loaded to the new phone he got me.”

Brock sat up, and my body instantly missed his warmth. “Are you sure you’re ready to write about that?” he asked, his expression concerned.

My heart squeezed.

How long had it been since someone had cared about my emotional health?

Well, probably…never.

I nodded. “I’ll focus on the science part of it. I think I can separate the kidnapping and the meteorite. Scientifically speaking, it was amazing.”

“We can work in my office,” he said. “I’ll try to get some plotting done on my book while you write. I’ll be close in case you need me.”

My heart stopped and did a very large, heavy flip-flop.

There was really no way to describe how good it felt that he cared enough to want to be close to me.

“Sounds good,” I told him honestly. “Hopefully no more sleepwalking for me.”

“It won’t matter if you do,” he informed me as he rose from the bed. “The alarm will be set and my door and my windows will be locked. From now on, you’ll be sleeping with me.”

Chapter 14

Jenna

Brock’s suggestion worked out better than I’d expected.

He had a very nice, oversized recliner in his office, and it was a dream to sit in.

Since I wrote on my laptop, it was lot more comfortable to sit in a place where I could move around periodically.

Brock worked at his desk. Because his arm wasn’t one hundred percent yet, he wasn’t writing text. He was outlining at a fairly slow pace.

By afternoon, my blog was progressing, but I’d spent way too much time thinking about the fact that Brock had insisted that I sleep with him.

I had been taken aback, but the more that I thought about it, the more sensible it seemed.

Brock had explained that he was a light sleeper, so it made more sense for me to stay with him.

The lock on his door might slow me down, but it wasn’t unusual for sleepwalkers to have the wherewithal to open simple locks.

He didn’t want me wandering around the house, and I completely agreed with that.
