“It’s not too early,” Brock said huskily. “Your silence on the subject has been killing me. Tell me, Jenna. Tell me you don’t want to be with anyone else but me.”
My heart skittered as I gazed into his intense, gorgeous eyes.
God, I adored this man.
He’d become my everything in a very short period of time, but I knew that was the way it was supposed to be.
Brock was it for me.
I was a scientist, so maybe I shouldn’t believe in fate or destiny, but I was also a little bit of a dreamer.
I’d longed for my person, if he existed, when I was younger. Over the years, I’d given up.
But now, here he was in front of me.
My big, bad, rugged, beautiful, possessive man.
I wouldn’t change a single thing about him because he made me feel…wanted.
Beautiful.
Cherished.
Important.
Oddly, he almost made me feel like the sexiest woman on the planet even though I knew I was scarred and a little broken.
None of that seemed to matter to Brock.
He looked at me and saw the woman he wanted to be with forever.
He didn’t see my scars or my imperfections.
And he didn’t seem to want to change anything about me, either.
It probably helped us understand each other because we both had a history in the system when we were kids, but way more things than that shared experience drew us together.
The chemistry between us had been there before I’d known that he’d been in foster care, too.
I’d been drawn to Brock since day one.
I shook my head slowly. “I don’t want to be with anyone else but you. I’m not sure how all of this is going to work, but I’ll do whatever it takes to have a future with you.”
“Thank fuck!” he said in a relieved baritone. “We’ll figure it out as we go along, Stargazer.”
“Does this mean that we can finally burn up the sheets together?” I teased.
His mouth ghosted from my temple to my lips, hovering a hairsbreadth from my mouth while he muttered, “As often as possible until you have to leave.”
His kiss was a hot promise of what I could look forward to in the future.
I tightened my arms around his neck, the fire that was lighting up my soul almost consuming me.
Heat flooded between my thighs as the embrace became hot and desperate.
This man was mine, and I felt like the luckiest woman in the world.
“Brock,” I said breathlessly as he finally released my lips.
