Marquez raises the radio.
“Argent Star, this is Agent Marquez. Calle Sinclair is prepared to discuss an exchange.”
Simon answers immediately.
“I’m listening.”
I take the radio from her.
Ben’s face hardens, but he doesn’t stop me.
“Let me speak to Naomi.”
“You heard her.”
“I want to hear her again.”
Donald drags Naomi upright.
He presses the radio near her face.
“I’m alive,” she says.
“Are you hurt?”
“Not badly.”
Donald tightens his grip.
Naomi gasps.
“Stop touching her,” I say.
Simon takes the radio.
“Bring the compass.”
“I will meet you at the abandoned ferry landing.”
“You don’t choose the location.”
“Then you don’t get the compass.”
