“And Simon believes I did.”
I stop.
Ben pushes himself onto one elbow.
“His cameras saw the diving chamber explode. He saw the ship roll over the breach. Unless someone told him we escaped, he thinks all five of us are dead.”
Marquez looks toward the helicopter feed.
Simon stands inside the bridge.
He is no longer watching the water.
He is arguing with Donald.
“They don’t know,” she says.
Ben turns toward Scott, Mark, John and Piers.
All four are bruised, bleeding or exhausted.
Every one of them looks back at him.
Ready.
“No,” I say.
Ben’s gaze returns to the camera.
“Calle.”
“You can barely stand.”
“I don’t need to stand yet.”
“What does that mean?”
The tactical commander kneels beside him.
“The ship is trapped against the rocks. We can approach from the blind side beneath the cliffs.”
Ben points toward the bridge.
“Simon will expect an assault from the Coast Guard vessels. He’ll watch the water and the air.”
“But not the rocks,” Scott says.
Mark wipes blood from his mouth.
“We climb the eastern side and enter through the bow hatch.”
John checks his weapon.
“Then move up through the crew passage.”
Piers tightens the bandage around Ben’s leg.
“You aren’t climbing anything.”
