Simon lifts his radio.

“Report.”

No one answers.

The five dead SEALs have reached the crew passage.

I look down at the compass before Simon sees the hope on my face.

His voice explodes through the radio.

“Report!”

Static answers him.

Then Ben’s voice fills my earpiece.

“Bow secured.”

Marquez responds immediately.

“Team Two, move.”

The Coast Guard cutter surges forward from beyond the channel. Its lights blaze across the damaged ship.

Simon spins toward it.

“This wasn’t our agreement!”

“You never intended to honor our agreement.”

He drags Naomi against him and points the gun at her temple.

“Bring me the compass now.”

“Send Captain Marquez onto the walkway.”

“I will shoot Naomi.”

“If you do, you’ll never touch this compass.”

Donald steps toward Simon.

“She’s stalling.”

“I know.”

“No,” Donald says. “You don’t know anything.”

He grabs the radio from Simon’s hand.

“Calle, your father tried this too. He believed he could turn us against each other.”

“You murdered him.”

“Daniel made a choice.”
