The woman lifted a handheld device and allowed it to hover over my wrist, showing two tiny spots that looked like bite marks.

“They show under the black lights all over the club,” she explained, motioning to the ceiling. I nodded as Nee grabbed my hand, dragging me away from the door.

“It’s cute, right? They go all out. Look at this place.” She beamed and I followed her, taking in our surroundings. The floors were blood red and looked like glass, the visible walls were black, and the lighting was dark and moody.

Our first stop was the crescent-shaped bar that looked like it was made of tinted glass and lined with tall, low back leather stools, all of which were filled. So it was standing room only. I grabbed one of the matte black, postcard sized menus with deep red embossed script listing themed specialty drinks: Ta Kill a Vampire, Blazing Blood, Vampire Kiss, and Half Blood Prince. There was also a note stating they would make speciality drinks if requested.

“I’m for sure getting Ta Kill a Vampire. Tequila is the vibe tonight.” Nee was already hype, which meant she was about to make this a wild experience.

I scanned the drinks once more and decided on the Half Blood Prince, which was pomegranate, bourbon, and raspberry liquor. We waved over one of the bartenders who was also dressed for the vibe. She wore a black corset with red stitching and braids pulled into a bun on top of her head, exposing her neck, which showed a tattoo of bite marks with blood dripping from them. I wasn’t sure if it was real ink or not, but it was cute.

After our drinks were secured, Nee leaned over the bar to find our location for tonight.

“Where’s VIP?”

The woman flashed a smile and pointed to the top left and right of the building. There were red glass elevators centered on each side of the circular upper level.

“The suits are labeled and there’s a bar up there too. Only one dance floor though and that’s down here.”

“Thank you.” We both smiled and moved away from the bar, drinks in hand.

“Shit, this is good,” I mumbled after I took my first sip.

Nee’s face twisted after she sampled hers. “Good and strong. We dancing or you want to go upstairs first?”

“I’m not going up there. That’s all you.”

Her eyes rolled quickly. “It’s not just the suites. They have lounges and a bar. You’re coming.”

“We’ll see. Let’s dance first.” I pointed toward the center of the club.

We finished our drinks on the way to the dance floor, leaving the empty glasses with one of the many servers moving through the building. As soon as we reached the center of the club, the bass grew heavier, vibrating through the floor.

People around us were in their own worlds, body to body. Some of them were damn near fucking right there in front of everyone. I knew from the videos online how things went down, but seeing it in real time was an entirely different vibe.

We navigated through the bodies, finding a spot just off from the center of the floor. The lights above us transitioned from gray to a deep red. The music shifted to a song by Samari Janaé, slower with heavy bass I felt throughout my entire body. The temperature increased because of all the people crowded around us. My senses were heightened, which made me tense as my eyes surveyed the faces.

Vampires were feeding from the necks of women and men as they danced around us, explaining why.

They’re feeding right here on the dance floor. Well shit!

It was surprisingly sensual and intimate. There was no visible pain, and for the most part, everyone indulging seemed to be experiencing euphoric bliss. This was nothing like I expected. My body warmed, my nipples tightened, and my core began to pulse.

“I think they sprayed something in the air because I’m feeling horny as hell.” Nee grinned lazily, grabbing my hips and bringing me into her. I playfully shoved her away.

“Bitch, you’re not about to fuck me, so give me space.”

She laughed and rolled her eyes, pulling me back. “Hoe, I know that. You don’t have the tools required to give me a happy ending.”

“Well, you’re the only one getting a happy ending tonight. I’m just here as your hype woman and support system.”

“Then hype me, cousin.” She backed away and did a full circle, throwing her arms in the air as she rocked her hips, rolling her body to the music.

“Do. That. Shit. Nee!” I yelled, clapping with each word to punctuate them. She swayed her hips more seductively before her body landed against mine. She placed her hands at my waist and we rocked in unison with our bodies rolling sensually to the music.

I didn’t know if it was the atmosphere or the liquor pushing through my veins but my skin felt hot and sensitive to the touch. I felt sexy, which was partly because of the dress I wore. It was black satin, gathered at my collarbone and held in place on my body with a gold link chain that circled my neck. With my locs pulled into a high ponytail, my back was fully exposed down to the curve of my ass where the material started again.

The dress gathered at the bottom, with a thick band of satin landing a few inches above mid thigh. The material hung loosely over my breasts and stomach but the soft fabric kept gliding over my nipples, and shit, it felt nice. The chain that looped my neck had one piece extending down my back. It grazed my skin as I moved, testing and teasing the hyper sensitivity of my skin.
