Ever After

He hums in my ear, and I close my eyes, listening to the song. I’ve heard it a thousand times, but it’s different today. The lyrics are hauntingly beautiful and he’s right—they do say everything about us—who we were and who we are together. Stronger and better in an uncertain world, each trying to be worthy of the other.

People surround us, but I don’t hear or see them. When I open my eyes, I see his wolf-blue eyes full of emotion. Our hands clasp together and the light glints on our wedding bands as we sway to the music. It’s perfect. It’s us.

It takes me at least three tries to get my key into the lock. I’m a little hampered by the fact that Blue has his hands stuffed down my trousers. Oh, and I’m drunk. I stare blearily at the lock and try again, wriggling as Blue fists my cock.

The key turns just as his lips meet mine, and I return his kiss fiercely, forgetting about the door until it swings open, depositing us in a tangle of limbs in the hallway.

“Ouch!” Blue wheezes.

I snort and after a couple of tries, manage to roll to my knees. “I am so pissed,” I inform him.

His blue eyes are nearly crossed. “I don’t… don’t think so,” he manages to get out. “You’re sober as a j-judge.”

Grabbing at the console table, I manage to hoist myself to my feet. “Is it me, or is the room spinning?” I ask, swaying.

Blue climbs to his feet, staggering in the process. “Maybe we got lost and ended up on a ship.”

“It’s probably going somewhere sunnier than Cornwall. Wait, where are you going?”

He looks back at me from the foot of the stairs. “I am going to find our bed and lie down.” He winks, attempting a leer. “And then I’m going to fuck you to celebrate—” He hiccups. “—to celebrate our marriage.”

“That is the best way to celebrate,” I breathe, following him quickly. Or at least, I would be fast if the stairs weren’t moving like we’re in the Fun House at the fair.

By the time I stagger into the bedroom, he’s naked apart from a pair of black boxer briefs. They cling to his narrow hips. His body is insanely beautiful—lithe and muscled with skin as pale as a moonbeam.

I jerk back when he clicks his fingers under my nose. “What the hell?” I mumble.

“Get undressed,” he says urgently. “I feel like there’s a very small window between being pissed and drunkenly impotent. We need to use that window wisely.”

“I have never been more attracted to you,” I breathe as I kick off my shoes and remove my socks. I tear at my clothes. “Am I wearing more than I started with this morning?” I finally say pathetically.

“Fucking hope not.”

He steps next to me and starts to take off my shirt. I try to help him, but I’m sidelined when he stops to kiss me and all the blood rushes from my brain to my dick.

“Umm,” I hum, sucking on his tongue. His fingers slide into my boxers, grabbing my cock, and I grunt. “Fuck, that feels nice.”

He looks up at me and grins. His face is flushed which makes his eyes look even paler. They gleam in the lamplight. “That’s good,” he says casually and then shoves me down on the bed. I bounce a few times before he throws himself onto me and kisses me again.

It’s all heated sighs and slick lips, and I can feel myself spiralling down into a soft red darkness. Then I move and something cold touches my skin.

“Shit,” I shout, jerking up.

“What is it?” Blue clutches me to him, but it sets our balance out, and we roll off the bed, landing with a thump on the floor.

“Ouch,” I say plaintively. “That was my hip.”

“You’ve got another one. Good job it wasn’t anything crucial.”

“I’ve always felt my hip was fairly important in the scheme of things.”

“Not as much as your penis. It is of vital importance tonight. What the hell just happened?”

I suddenly remember the cold touch. “Something was on the bed. It touched me,” I whisper.

He immediately rears up, fighting off my hands as I try to stop him. “No,” he snaps. “Let me see.”

He peeps over the bed and then, to my surprise, he starts to laugh.
