I stare at him. Then Dora. Then him again.
“You two have a secret. And apparently, I’m just some guy’s chew toy!”
Neither answer me.
“Unbelievable.”
I grab my bag.

Chapter Fifteen
There's so much bullshit going on in my life right now that my classes are suffering because of it.
The worst part? The kids don't even notice.
Because I'm the easy teacher.
Everyone knows it.
I'm the professor students whisper about in the halls like faculty members suddenly lose their hearing after the age of thirty.
Take Daniels. She's easy.
Professor Daniels never gets mad.
Just tell her you forgot.
She'll give you another day.
I'm the teacher they think they can get one over on.
And, Goddess help me, they're not entirely wrong.
I've always told myself there's a difference between being a pushover and being understanding.
Teenagers screw up. They forget things.
They fall in love, fall out of love, stay up too late, make spectacularly stupid decisions, and occasionally turn classroom furniture into dairy products.
They're kids. They're supposed to screw up.
