“Now you’re just being silly. She’s not going to die, and he’s not going to pay you anything. He’s going to avenge what you think about doing.” He said you can’t kill people for thinking about killing someone. “Of course you can. It’s a law I just made up. Isn’t that what you do? Make up laws so that you don’t get into trouble with them?”
“That is a good law. I’ll have to think about doing that.” He laughed. “The council will be able to hear all kinds of things about people trying to kill me, and I’ll be able to kill them. Brilliant.”
“It won’t work.” He growled again. “Well, it won’t. There are things that you should know, and it’s a lot to do with the council. Things that you should heed to in the future.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. Not that it matters. Once I have the bitch Smith, I’m going to kill her, tell her husband that I want ten million dollars and not care if he gets her back at all.” He said he’d know when she was killed. “No, he won’t. That’s just another bylaw that someone made up. You’ll see. Once I get her into my lair, there will be nothing stopping me.”
“All right then. I guess I’ll leave you to it. I shall see you on the morrow.” Damion was only half listening to the voice now. He had another plan to use to get away with murder. And in turn, receive all their bounty that they’d collected over the years. “By the way, tomorrow is Saturday, and they work later in the day. I’d hate for you to have your plans all ruined because you didn’t know what time she comes to work.”
“I don’t believe you.” The voice laughed, and he turned again. He’d been turning in circles since this started, and he wasn’t convinced that there was anyone in the room with him. It was, after all, just a voice that was turning him in circles. “I’ll be here tomorrow, and so will she. She’s nothing but loyal to her job. One can only be happy that she’s not that loyal to her mate. She’s making my job easier.”
Going to his bed, Damion made his plans. The voice no longer spoke to him, which he was glad. He had things to work out, and he couldn’t get them done with the voice bothering him all the time. He was going to kill the woman, get a ransom from her mate, and be happy that he’d thought of everything else about the plans so he’d not be in trouble with the council.
Going to bed, he had planned as much as he could. Tomorrow he was going to get things just where he wanted them and be damned the voice. Too excited to sleep, he decided to give himself some relaxing time. Pulling out his cock from his black pants, he used his hand to get himself stiff enough to masturbate. He wasn’t all that big, but he knew how to use it. That’s what he told himself anyway.
It only took him three minutes to come. He thought that might be a record for him, and he decided that tomorrow he was going to make sure that the voice knew it. He wasn’t opposed to telling people about himself. What he didn’t like was telling them when he failed. Not that he failed all that often. Again, laughing, that’s what he told himself.
Sleeping away the afternoon, he got up and got ready. He was going to go over to the job site that he knew the woman was going to be working at and get her to come with him. She’d be so stupid; he thought that she’d just get into the car with him and he’d kill her then.
He was going to tell her that he was taking her to her mate. That something had happened to him. It was the perfect plan, and he couldn’t wait to tell her about his brilliance. Damion was going to be rich soon, and he was going to move into the biggest house in the town just so everyone knew what a smart person he was.
There was no one at the site. He decided that maybe the voice had been right in that they were working earlier in the morning so that they could get off early. Damn it all to fuck and back. He should have remembered to check things out when he went to the site. Now he had to wait until Monday.
Just as he was ready to leave, his anger about as bad as it had ever been, he saw her. She was dressed in jeans and a shirt and looked like she’d just got out of the shower. Getting out of his car, he walked as casually to her as he could. Once he was about three yards from her, she turned and looked at him.
He couldn’t believe her beauty. While he’d seen her before, it had never been this close. With her green eyes and dark hair, she looked like a goddess. He wondered then if she would let him fuck her when he got her in the car. Surely she was up for a little fun before he killed her?

“What do you want?” The man, Damion Spector, stopped moving, and she asked him again what he wanted. “You’re not going to touch me. Just so you know.”
“I’m not going to, but I heard from your mate, and he said that he wanted me to come and pick you up from here to take you to him.” Katie snorted. Telling him that she didn’t believe him. “I swear. That’s what he told me.”
“I’m speaking to him right now, and he doesn’t know what you’re talking about.” He looked pissed off for a second, then smiled at her. “What do you want?”
“You. I want you to come with me so that I can kidnap you.” He pulled out a gun and pointed it at her. Katie knew on some level that he’d not hurt her with the gun, but it still frightened her some. “Come along and get into my car, and I won’t have to hurt you.”
“I’m not afraid of you. You might think that’s going to work on me, but it’s not.” She turned to look at him now, not giving him any reason to shoot her. “I think I’ll stand right here and you over there. I have things that I have to do today, and I don’t think going with you is going to happen.”
“I have a gun pointed at you.” Katie shrugged. “You’re not afraid of me? Why is that? I’ve been planning this for some time now, and you’re going to cooperate with me. Get in the car before you piss me off.”
Looking over his shoulder, she could see the horde. They were waiting on her signal to take him out, and she didn’t want that just yet. They’d go after him anyway, but even if he shot her, she wasn’t going to get into his car. She wasn’t stupid.
“I’m not worried about you. You, however, should be worried about me. I’m not going to be as easy as you think I might.” He took several steps toward her, and she stood her ground. If he got too close to her, she’d simply snap her fingers, and the horde would take care of him. At least that’s what she’d been told about them. “Why don’t you go home before I have to have you killed. I will. I’m not going to put up with your bullshit much longer.”
“You’re pissing me off.” Again, she shrugged and told him she didn’t really care. “You should care. I’m going to kill you now. I was going to play around with you, but you’ve pissed me off enough right now that I’m going to let my beast have you.”
“Your beast? Is that him now?” He nodded, then smiled at her. “I think my beast is bigger than yours.” Letting herself go, she knew what she looked like. While she wasn’t really all that scary, she was taller than him by a good foot, and her nails were longer and a deep red that she’d painted them this morning.
“You think you’re so bad. You’re not. I’m going to kill you right now and then ransom you to your mate. He’ll pay anything to get you back, and I’m going to take it.” She didn’t worry about Damion because she knew that Rutger was close at hand. They’d set this up with her new faerie last night.
Raymond had been watching Damion for the last two days. He not only spoke to the little faerie, but he also was able to get his plans for her out of him. He was about the stupidest kidnapper that she’d ever known. Not that she knew all that many, but he had to be right up there with the others.
“What are you waiting for?” She asked him what he was talking about. “Why aren’t you doing what I want? I said for you to get into my car, and I don’t want you fucking around with me. Get in it now, or I’m going to have to kill you right where you’re standing.”
“I’m not afraid of you. If you were to look behind you, you’d see that there is a horde of faeries behind you that are just waiting for my signal to take you out. And they’ll do it slowly too, for pissing me off.” He threw back his head and laughed. It didn’t sound humorous, more forced than anything. “What do you find so funny? Do you think I’m lying to you?”
“Yes. I do. I think that you want me to turn around so that you can come to me and hurt me. You notice that I didn’t say kill me; you won’t be able to do that. But you want me to turn so that you can get closer to me. I don’t know why; that would be playing into my hands, but there you have it. You’re nothing but a stupid female who thinks just because you have a little magic, then things should be going your way.” She told him that the horde was really there. “Of course they are. And you’re a vampire. You’re not, you know. I would know a vampire if they were around me.”
